Prime Video Subscribers Are Complaining About User Experience Ahead of Major Plan Phaseout

Look, as a movie and TV fanatic, it’s getting seriously annoying trying to keep up with all these streaming services. It feels like every studio decided they needed their own platform, and now I’m paying a fortune just to watch everything I want. And of course, they’re all hiking up their prices – it’s a real pain!

In early March, the streaming service announced it was replacing its Ad-Free plan with a new, upgraded version called Ultra, which includes a price hike. As the April 10th launch date approached, many users began reporting a very frustrating experience while using Prime Video.

Prime Video’s User Experience on Desktop Is Getting Harder to Navigate

A Reddit user named Janderson2494 recently shared a frustrating experience. They wanted to show how closely some scenes from a TV show matched the original comic book, but couldn’t find a specific episode using the show’s website.

Many viewers are having trouble finding the show on the streaming service, even when searching for it directly! Some people have reported that searching for “Invincible” doesn’t work, while the special episode featuring Atom Eve does appear in the search results. While not everyone is experiencing this problem, several users have confirmed it’s happening to them.

As a big TV and movie fan, I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints online about streaming services getting things messed up. One popular comment really hit home – so many shows don’t even have their seasons listed in the right order, and sometimes entire seasons just disappear! Another user chimed in, saying it goes even further than that. They’ve noticed seasons being listed under completely different titles, and subtitle issues are rampant – either they’re missing altogether, or they’re wrong, or just badly made. They even pointed to the German series You Are Wanted as an example of a show with terrible subtitle problems.

Another user reported that the “play next episode” feature sometimes restarts the series from a random, earlier episode instead of continuing where you left off.

The post also compared the least user-friendly streaming services, and many commenters said Paramount+ offered a particularly poor viewing experience.

Amazon Is Replacing the Ad-Free Plan Soon

Amazon’s Prime Video has been offering streaming entertainment for over ten years, but it’s really gained prominence recently. The 2021 purchase of the historic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio brought a wealth of classic movies and TV shows to the service, along with valuable expertise from a long-established Hollywood powerhouse.

Prime Video has become a source of popular movies and TV series, featuring hits like Reacher, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Invincible, Fallout, and many more. They have even bigger plans ahead, including new shows and unannounced projects, plus adaptations of God of War and a spin-off series focusing on the Reacher character Neagley.

Prime Video is making a big change soon. Starting April 10th, they’re getting rid of their ad-free option and replacing it with Prime Video Ultra. This new service will cost $4.99 per month and includes benefits like 4K Ultra HD video, Dolby Atmos sound, the ability to download 100 movies and shows to watch offline, and the option to stream on up to five devices at the same time.
