ITV announces new crime drama with Doctor Foster producers attached
As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for crime dramas that delve deep into the intricacies of our justice system, I can hardly contain my excitement for ITV’s upcoming series, Saviour. Having spent countless hours immersed in games like “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney” and “Law & Order: Legacies,” I am eager to see how real-life criminal barrister Imran Mahmood’s experiences will translate onto the small screen.
ITV has announced a new crime drama from the producers of Doctor Foster.
Entitled “Saviour“, the forthcoming series delves into the intricacies of the legal justice system by focusing on two characters: Ben, a respectable medical student, and Indy, a seasoned criminal lawyer. Their lives intersect dramatically following a pivotal event.
Initially, the audience encounters Ben, who attends a glamorous costume gathering while donning a police uniform, with the intention of winning over Xenia’s admiration.
Yet, as Ben notices Xenia under attack by a man during his journey home, an observer mistakenly thinking him a police officer, prompts him into action, leaving him no other option.
In a tense situation where Ben was the sole survivor after pursuing a man into a tunnel as a speeding train approached, he urgently phoned his father Eddie, who is a veteran and highly esteemed police officer. Coincidentally, Ben had borrowed Eddie’s uniform for a party earlier.
Simultaneously, Indy – a skilled criminal lawyer – seems to lead an enviable life, boasting a thriving profession, a loving spouse, and a diligent daughter excelling in her academic pursuits.
In the ongoing narrative, it’s revealed that she encounters a man named Ben, who is petrified due to a murder allegation, in a jail cell under police custody. Her task now becomes navigating through a maze of corrupt policing, intrusive media attention, and a client who conceals facts from her.
“She will fight tooth and nail for the truth, but Indy has secrets of her own. Deeply personal secrets that are finally coming to the surface and threatening to tear the case and her family apart.
As I navigated through this intense gaming experience, I found myself pondering a thought-provoking question: Just how much am I willing to sacrifice to shield those dear to me?
The character of “Saviour” was developed by author and practicing criminal barrister Imran Mahmood, in collaboration with Drama Republic, who are also known for producing shows like “Doctor Foster”. They will be joining forces with Parti Productions to co-produce this project.
More specifics about the cast members and the release date for the show will be disclosed at a later time.
Mahmood expressed his excitement about writing his inaugural scripted TV series, which will air on ITV and Parti Productions.
As a seasoned gamer, I’ve often found myself drawn to virtual courtrooms, longing for the day when I could apply my skills as a criminal barrister in the real world. The intricate workings of the justice system, its triumphs and pitfalls, have always fascinated me. And what better platform than the screen to delve into this complex reality?
Saviour will air on ITV1 and STV and be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player.
