Of course the actor who played Young Ned Stark would star in a Game of Thrones spinoff show
As a devoted fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the captivating world of Westeros, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of a Young Ned Stark spinoff series. Having witnessed Sebastian Croft’s remarkable portrayal of young Ned Stark back in season 6, I can only imagine how compelling it would be to delve deeper into his character’s past.
Ever since “Game of Thrones” concluded in 2019, HBO has been busy creating several spinoff series. One is currently airing, another will premiere next year, while there are others that might never make it to our screens. With all the buzz around “Game of Thrones”, why not brainstorm some additional concepts?
ScreenRant conducted an interview with Sebastian Croft, who portrayed the young version of Eddard (Ned) Stark in some episodes during season 6 of Game of Thrones, when Bran Stark traveled to the past and encountered his father as a child. Here’s a link where you can watch Croft’s performance as Young Ned: [Link provided]
Would Croft express enthusiasm for potentially taking on a role in a theoretical Game of Thrones offshoot centered around Young Ned Stark? “Absolutely, without a doubt!” he replied. “That show is just incredible, and the opportunity to even briefly step into the shoes of a Stark is still thrilling. I find Ned such an intriguing character, and delving into his past, understanding how he evolved from where we meet him in Season 1 of Game of Thrones, and what led him to reach his pinnacle, seems incredibly engaging. If someone decides to produce it, count me in – I’m all for it! It sounds fantastic.
Currently, HBO is producing many shows, but they tend to be selective about which ones make it to production. As of now, I don’t believe they are considering a show focusing on Young Ned Stark. However, keep an eye on the franchise over the next few years; unexpected things can happen in the future.
For Croft, landing the role of Young Ned was one of his earliest on-screen appearances. Since then, his most significant role might be as Ben Hope in the Netflix series “Heartstopper”. Recently, he discussed his upcoming horror comedy “Get Away” with Screenrant, showing that he’s definitely making a name for himself.
If Croft were to reprise his role as Young Ned Stark, he would be significantly older than he was when he first played the character; currently, Croft is 22 years old, and he was just 14 when “Game of Thrones” premiered in 2016. Given that he was likely even younger during filming, he is now mature enough to portray Ned Stark during events such as the Tourney at Harrenhal or during Robert’s Rebellion.
It occurs to me that I might enjoy a series focusing on Young Ned or Robert’s Rebellion with Croft portraying Young Ned. For now though, we can anticipate the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next year. In the interim, House of the Dragon will return for a third season around 2026.
