Motorhead’s Lemmy ‘will have his ashes scattered at VERY famous strip club where he was a regular’
As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for music and its legends, I find it heartwarming to see how the spirit of Lemmy Kilmister, the iconic Motorhead frontman, continues to live on. The choice to have his ashes scattered at his favorite haunts, including Stringfellows nightclub and the Wacken Open Air Festival, speaks volumes about his connection with these places and his fans.
Lemmy’s ashes are reportedly getting a new home at Stringfellow’ nightclub.
In 2015, the legendary rock musician known as Ian Kilmister (but often referred to as Motorhead), passed away at the age of 70. His ashes were distributed among close friends and scattered at places he held dear.
Lemmy, the well-known figure, often visited Stringfellows in Covent Garden following its opening by Peter Stringfellow in 1980.
Additionally, he opted for the adult-oriented location, which was the site of Motorhead’s 35th anniversary celebration in November 2010.
Motorhead manager Todd Singerman said Stringfellows ‘always had a special place’ in Lemmy’s heart.
He shared with The Sun, “He appreciates the laid-back ambiance, and undeniably admires the scenery. I’m confident that he’s pleased to return to spending time in one of his cherished locations.
Phil Campbell, the guitarist from Motorhead, is set to attend the event where it’s said that Lemmy’s remains (in an urn) will be placed permanently on display for fans to view.
The urn is a miniture replica of the main one at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood.
Some of Lemmy’s ashes were also scattered at Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival.
I had the privilege of participating in a metal festival that paid tribute to the legendary musician, Lemmy, through their ‘Lemmy Forever’ memorial. This heartfelt homage was scattered throughout the event’s grounds, which held significant meaning as it was the very same village in Schleswig-Holstein where Lemmy and his Ace of Spades bandmates performed countless times.
Thomas Jensen, one of the organizers of the festival, stated: “Having Lemmy return to Wacken is a truly monumental honor for us – it’s hard to find words that fully capture its enormity.
We’ll establish a tribute space for him, reflecting his immense impact on an entire artistic genre and transcending its boundaries.
‘Motörhead shares an extraordinary bond with the Wacken Open Air festival; few bands have performed there as many times. It’s significant that his final tour also concluded at this venue, making it a place of unique significance in Motörhead’s history.’
Before he passed away, the musician asked that his ashes be put into bullets and then mailed to his dear ones.
In the year 2021, I, an ardent admirer, had the profound privilege of witnessing Eddie Rocha and Emma Cederblad unveiling a lasting tribute they bestowed upon their dearly departed comrade.
The clip began with the caption: ‘Some of Lemmy’s ashes were shared with family and close friends.’
First, the bullet was displayed. Later, a trace of gunpowder was added to the ink to craft a depiction of the musician on Eddie’s leg, as well as the band’s famous spade symbol onto Emma.
Earlier that year, Riki Rachtman, the former host of MTV’s Headbangers Ball, became the first person to unveil a golden bullet he had been given, which bore Lemmy’s name as an inscription.
He captioned his Twitter post: ‘Before his death #Lemmy asked for his ashes to be put in some bullets and handed out to his closest friends Today I received a bullet and was literally brought to tears Thank you @myMotorhead.’
