While recent Star Trek shows have largely focused on prequels and spin-offs instead of continuing the original series’ tradition of self-contained episodes that moved the story forward, the franchise still offers fresh ideas to science fiction. The strongest Star Trek installments consistently tackle modern issues, imagine potential scientific and social advancements, and feature a more inclusive group of characters. However, the show isn’t perfect; one episode from The Original Series is particularly weak and hasn’t improved with time.

According to FlixPatrol, Yellowstone is currently the biggest hit on Paramount+ around the world. The Western drama is number one in many countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, and Peru. It’s also performing well elsewhere – it’s a top 5 show in the UK, and popular with viewers on streaming services Stan in Australia and SkyShowtime in Albania.

Released in August 2023 by Ravensburger, Disney Lorcana has quickly become a popular trading card game. Players take on the role of “Illumineers,” using magical ink to summon Disney characters. The first player to reach 20 lore points wins. Remarkably, in its first three years, only two cards have been officially banned for competitive play, which is a low number compared to many other TCGs.

Director Josh Boone first hinted at the character Warlock in 2016, intending him to appear in a 2020 film that ultimately wasn’t successful. As the rest of the team was cast, details about Warlock’s role stayed a mystery. Even as the film faced repeated delays, people continued to wonder if Warlock would actually be included.

Characters like Leeloo from The Fifth Element, Ellen Ripley from Alien, and Neo from The Matrix are memorable because of their unique looks and personalities. However, this raises a challenge for other science fiction heroes. Many classic sci-fi films feature characters who look alike – often wearing similar spacesuits or military gear – especially when action is involved. That’s why it’s so important for sci-fi heroes to be both interesting and visually distinct, and it often relies on a strong actor to make that happen.

Disney has become known for prioritizing profits when deciding what movies to make. For the last ten years, they’ve been remaking their classic animated films into live-action versions that often feel uninspired and visually underwhelming. While these remakes are usually just okay, sometimes they surprisingly turn out great, much like The Lego Movie. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is a good example of this. When Disney decided to make a movie based on a simple Disneyland theme park ride, it seemed like a creatively bankrupt idea.

What makes a design “perfect” is up to each person, but these One Piece characters are some of the most impressive. Every detail was intentionally created by Eiichiro Oda to show who these characters are and how powerful they are.

I’m really excited to hear that Ruaridh Aldington is joining the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for Season 2 as a series regular! Karim Diané actually let us know during Comic-Con, which was awesome. Apparently, Aldington will be playing Keats – a young alien the cadets meet on a mission who has a really interesting secret. They end up bringing him back to the Academy, but it turns out he’s in trouble with someone and his life is at risk. I got a first glimpse of Keats, and he looks fantastic!

The new Matchbox: The Movie trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and it could be the biggest surprise hit to come from a toy adaptation ever. Presented during Apple TV’s first Hall H panel on July 25th, the trailer showcases the action-packed film inspired by Mattel’s classic Matchbox cars. The movie boasts a famous cast, including John Cena as one of its leads.
