As a die-hard Spidey fan who has followed this web-slinging franchise since the very beginning, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension regarding the latest rumors about “Beyond the Spider-Verse.” The thought of any further delays in the release of this highly anticipated film is like a punch to the heart for us fans.

There’s no need for concern, there’s nothing unusual going on. However, a Marvel insider is circulating whispers about the final installment of Sony’s Spider-Verse series, indicating that the production may be experiencing a significant delay.

Recently, there’s been chatter online about potential issues with Sony’s upcoming movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse.” The gossip suggests that due to some significant problems, the film may face a considerable postponement in its release date. This rumor, which has gained momentum and been shared by various sources, claims that Sony requested a new script for “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” essentially asking the writers to start anew after the premiere of “Across the Spider-Verse.

The reports indicated that there was no consensus among those at the studio regarding the ending of the movie. Consequently, the release date was predicted to be significantly delayed, leading some to speculate that they hadn’t yet started animating the final version of the film. This news understandably upset fans, who quickly shared their worries about potential further delays in the film’s production.

Given that the movie’s initial release date of March 29, 2024, was postponed due to the 2023 screenwriters’ and actors’ strikes, which led to an undetermined delay, it wasn’t surprising to assume that issues with the script could have contributed to the film’s further postponement.

To put it simply, we share Sneider’s viewpoint because no reliable sources have confirmed the delay, and if Sony discarded the script for the movie and began anew, it seems improbable that respected insiders like Daniel RPK, Grace Randolph, My Time to Shine Hello would keep quiet about any issues with the film. In other words, if there were serious problems with the project, they would have likely leaked some information.

Christopher Miller, the producer, previously refuted rumors stating parts of the movie were discarded. He assured his followers on platform X in September that “nothing has been thrown away” and that the scenes are progressing smoothly.

Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release date remains unknown

Originally scheduled for release on March 29, 2024, the movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse” was unexpectedly withdrawn from Sony’s schedule without a new release date being announced. Since then, fans have been anxiously awaiting any news about the film, as its delay was initially attributed to writers’ and actors’ strikes, along with rumors that the animation process would take longer than anticipated.

Since the upcoming live-action Spider-Man film is scheduled for 2026, and Sony hasn’t released two Spider-Man movies in a single year thus far, it seems plausible that they might aim to bring the movie out in 2025 or delay it until 2027. However, Sony may also choose to shock us by releasing both Spider-Man 4 and Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2026 instead.
