Found season 2, episode 4 recap and review: "Missing While Perfect"

As a die-hard fan of Found, I’ve been hooked ever since its premiere and this season is proving to be just as thrilling! The latest episode left me on the edge of my seat, particularly with the personal case Trent took up and the progression of Lacey’s memory loss.

In the second season of “Found,” it’s established that Lacey has been discharged from the hospital. However, the storyline shifts to speculate about the fate of the Mergers and Acquisitions team, wondering if they will continue working together.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Found season 2, episode 4.

The intricacies of the situation are challenging to unravel, as Lacey can’t recall Gabi’s earlier confession before she was abducted. Additionally, a boy has appeared seeking assistance because his parents have mysteriously vanished, which complicates matters for Trent since this case has become deeply personal and potentially hazardous for him.

A personal case for Trent in Found season 2, episode 4

To begin with, the scenario at hand revolved around a pair who had gone missing. At first, it appeared as though an abduction could be involved, but Trent sensed there was something more beneath the surface. Upon introducing the husband’s superior to discuss the possibility of an extramarital affair, he came to understand that this was actually a case of domestic violence.

Upon realizing this situation, he felt compelled to investigate further. He sought to locate where the two individuals were, understanding that Gabi possessed the knowledge required to unravel the mystery at hand. Resilient as she was, Gabi took necessary actions to ensure her own safety. Armed with such determination, Gabi managed to determine that it wasn’t the husband who had inflicted harm upon the wife. Instead, the wife had regained control and kept the husband confined somewhere.

As a gamer, I can relate this situation to a tough level in a game where you have to rescue a character you care deeply about. For me, Trent, this case was crucial because it mirrored my sister’s own struggle. I’d fought tirelessly to shield her from harm, fearing that we might have come too late. But thankfully, she found the strength to escape and bring her abuser to justice. Now, I’m determined to use my resources and influence to help others facing similar perils, just like I did for my sister.

Have we reached a critical juncture? Is it now clear to Trent why Gabi took the actions she did? While this revelation doesn’t make forgiveness or complete acceptance any easier, he comprehends that she was trying to regain control. I believe if Gabi had killed Sir, Trent would have supported her. The turning point came when she held him hostage and used him as a tool for solving cases, which ultimately led to his distancing himself from her.

Ultimately, Gabi and Trent tracked down the couple. Initially, the woman was facing arrest due to her actions, but her son intervened by confronting his father about his wrongdoings. He vowed never to follow in his father’s footsteps and made it clear that their relationship was severed. In the end, the husband admitted to having beaten his wife, and as a result, the charges against her were dismissed.

Lacey remembers everything

As for the elephant in the room, we needed to tackle it. Once Lacey recalled what Gabi had admitted, how she’d respond was something we were curious about.

Initially, everyone treaded carefully around her. Yet, they persisted in aiding someone’s survival, which seemed to foreshadow the final outcome. Instead of abandoning Gabi, Margaret and Zeke could have chosen to walk away. They had the option to join forces to search for Lacey, but they opted to continue working with Gabi. Remarkably, they even assisted in saving more people along the way.

It turns out that when Lacey observed Sir trailing after Trent, something triggered a memory within her. Contrary to what one might assume, Sir did not attempt to harm Trent. Instead, he composed a letter for Gabi and departed the scene. However, it was the sight of Sir following Trent that resurfaced some events for Lacey. She recalled the confession, but decided to keep quiet about it.

Though she hasn’t forgiven Gabi yet, she acknowledges that their shared mission is more important than any personal grievances. They must unite to help others, which is their mutual calling. It might be that they eventually band against Gabi, but for now, unity is crucial. This time, it’s Lacey who’s facilitating their reunion, and I find this new dynamic quite intriguing. As expected, their common goal of saving people is what keeps the M&A Team united.

In simpler terms, as Margaret approached the basement where Sir was, she intended to employ her unique ability known as the Margaret Vision. Yet, she found herself overwhelmed by something she encountered, causing her to depart hastily. What exactly did she witness that led to this sudden exit?

What is Sir’s plan in Found?

It’s clear that Sir has long had Gabi as his ultimate goal. This hasn’t changed, and with his recent release, he seems to be moving forward with this plan once more.

In the course of the show, he communicates in Dutch. He’s also in the process of purchasing a property, and shares that his spouse suffers from agoraphobia. It seems like this scenario is being laid for him to potentially confine his wife within the foreign house, making it more challenging for others to locate her. This also means fewer occasions where people might wonder why they rarely see his wife.

Sir consistently demonstrates his strategic prowess, relentlessly pursuing the recovery of Gabi. He’s leaving no stone unturned in this endeavor. Although we don’t witness as many interactions between Sir and Gabi this season, their underlying tension remains palpable. It’s uncertain if Sir will be able to sneakily get Gabi on a plane, but his determination is unwavering.

Found airs Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
