Martha Stewart reignites feud with Ina Garten by refuting claims over why they fell out

On Sunday, the seasoned home-lifestyle guru, aged 83, made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. During the show, she addressed whispers about her bond with the acclaimed American culinary icon, who is also 76 years old.
Despite both renowned chefs concurring that their relationship deteriorated around the year 2000, they have different views regarding the causes of their rift.
Previously, Garten stated that they somehow fell out of contact after Stewart, who was present at the premiere of her Netflix documentary ‘Martha’ on Monday, relocated.
Yet, Stewart informed Cohen that her friend had ceased communication with her following the imprisonment sentence she received in 2004.
During the show, Cohen inquired from Stewart, accompanied by Snoop Dogg, whether she had taken a look at Garten’s recently published memoir titled “Be Ready When the Luck Happens”.
‘I’ve read parts of it,’ she replied.
After he inquired if she had ‘read the parts about yourself’ she said ‘Oh yes.’
‘What was your take?’ Andy asked.
‘She can write whatever she wants,’ Martha replied.
After a puzzled Snoop questioned what Ina had penned down, Andy clarified: ‘Ina wrote that they had a disagreement as she relocated to Connecticut.’
‘That’s not true,’ Stewart countered.
Meanwhile Snoop added, ‘Martha don’t fall out with people.’
Stewart then claimed that two stopped speaking ‘after I went to jail.’
‘Yeah, because see that’s when I stepped in,’ Snoop humorously added.
Earlier, Stewart had spoken about their disagreement in an article on Garten for The New Yorker. They expressed it as follows: ‘Upon my imprisonment at Alderson, she chose to cut off communication with me. I found this both upsetting and uncaring.’
Later, her publicist told the magazine that she was ‘not bitter at all and there’s no feud.’
Meanwhile Garten ‘firmly’ denied that Martha’s prison sentence had anything to do with their rift.
Stewart and Garten met in the 1990s while living in the Hamptons.
In a turn of events, it was Martha Stewart who wrote a piece for Garten in Martha Stewart Living magazine, while she played an instrumental part in helping Garten land her initial book deal. This was achieved by Stewart personally escorting a publisher to Garten’s specialty food store, The Barefoot Contessa.
In 2004, Martha served a five-month sentence in prison. This was following her conviction on charges such as conspiracy and hindering justice, which were connected to the selling of a stock.
On a Monday, Martha left an impression at the premiere of her Netflix documentary, called “Martha,” held at the Paris Theater in New York City.
She donned a purple zip-front jacket, shiny silver trousers, and open-toed high heels. Accompanying her was Trudie Styler, the partner of musician Sting, who looked graceful in a beige coat and matching skirt at the event.
58-year-old fashion designer Tory Burch gracefully attended the event, maintaining her stylish demeanor in a large black coat featuring a golden belt fastener.
Jamie Tisch, 56, rocked a beaded snakeskin coat and matching heels for the occasion.
Writer Candace Bushnell, 65, sparkled in a glittering navy mini dress and heels.
Others in attendance included Jane Cha Cutler, R. J. Cutler, Trevor Smith and Alina Cho.
In simple terms, this forthcoming documentary traces the life journey of the celebrated role model, starting from her teenage years as a model, up until her groundbreaking achievement as America’s first self-made woman billionaire, as stated in the Netflix press announcement.
The movie additionally sheds light on Stewart’s background in a blue-collar household and encourages us to reassess the circumstances that led to her imprisonment.
