Rocker Jake E. Lee says shooter 'emptied his clip on me,' feels 'very lucky'

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for rock music and a soft spot for stories of resilience, I find myself deeply moved by the harrowing tale of Jake E. Lee, the esteemed guitarist who survived a senseless shooting while walking his dog.

Musician Jake E. Lee, who got shot several times during a walk with his pet dog in the vicinity of his Las Vegas residence on Tuesday, considers himself remarkably fortunate for having made it through the shooting incident. The attack resulted in a broken rib and injured his lung.

On a Facebook post made by the Red Dragon Cartel, their lead vocalist spoke directly to the fans on Thursday. This was his initial message regarding the recent incident. He conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for their thoughtfulness and support: “It really helps make the difficult circumstances a bit easier.

He explained, “Let me make this clear: I was struck by three bullets. Earlier today, while walking my canine companion Coco, I headed home. I didn’t actually give him that name, by the way! At the moment, I don’t feel like going into specifics, as I’m quite exhausted, but I must say, I consider myself incredibly fortunate,” he added, posting a picture of his pet.

Lee, aged 67, mentioned that the police discovered fifteen spent bullet casings at the location, indicating that the gunman had “fired all the rounds in his magazine at me.

He stated, “I was able to avoid several bullets, but unfortunately three found their mark – one hit my forearm, another my foot, and a third went into my back, breaking a rib and damaging a lung. Currently, my focus is on draining the affected lung until it’s completely empty. Once that’s done, we can remove the tube and attend to the lesser injuries. Coco is doing well and thanks you for your concerns.

On Tuesday, Amanda Cagan, representative for Lee, confirmed that he had been wounded by gunfire earlier in the day. However, she reported that he was alert and in good condition, receiving care at a critical care unit of a Las Vegas hospital. According to Cagan, the “entirely unexpected” event should not hinder Lee’s full recovery.

As a movie-loving soul, I found myself tuning into the latest news last night, where it was reported that at around 2:42 a.m., the bustling streets of Alora Street, about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, became the scene of an unfortunate incident. The authorities confirmed their presence due to a shooting, and upon arrival, they discovered a fellow movie enthusiast, sadly struck by gunfire. He was swiftly escorted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No arrests were made, and the investigation is ongoing, the department said.

From 1982 to 1987, Lee held the position of Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarist during Ozzy’s solo career, which kicked off after he was dismissed from Black Sabbath many years prior. Regrettably, Lee was let go from Ozzy’s solo act later on. On a surprising note, Ozzy, who hadn’t crossed paths with Lee in 37 years, was taken aback by the news of his former bandmate’s shooting on Tuesday.

Osbourne expressed that it was yet another tragic instance of unnecessary firearm-related harm to a person, whom he spoke with TMZ about. His sympathies go out to the individual and his delightful daughter, Jade. He can only wish for their swift recovery.

Lee subsequently joined forces with ex-Black Sabbath vocalist Ray Gillen in Badlands during 1988. Later, he chose to step away from the music scene and stay out of the limelight. However, in time, he collaborated with bassist-producer Anthony Esposito, drummer Phil Varone, and singer Darren Smith to create Red Dragon Cartel, a band that delivers a blend of bluesy hard rock sounds. This group launched their debut album in 2014.
