Miranda Hart shares first details about her new husband after unexpectedly finding love with the ‘mould man’ as she describes him as her ‘best friend’ and ‘love of her life’ in new memoir

It’s now been verified that Miranda Hart secretly wed a man she encountered during lockdown, who happened to repair the mold in her £2million property in Hammersmith this year.

She wrote: ‘I encountered my dearest friend and soulmate who provides me with more absurdity, amusement, happiness, backing, concern, and security than I believed a single person could, as he was the construction inspector involved in the restoration of the house affected by mold sickness.’

‘Yes my love was Mr Mould Man/ My Mr Mould Man/ The Boy/ The Boy from Bristol/ The Boyfriend. 

“Actually, I didn’t mention it before, but he’s not just my boyfriend – we are married. We tied the knot when I turned 51.

Miranda shared that her pals were astonished when she began dating him initially, considering the circumstances – namely, the nationwide lockdown in the UK and the persistent dampness problems in her home.

She commented: ‘Every time I told my friends about meeting someone, they would all express bewilderment, stating that it’s unlikely a knight in shining armor would show up during housebound illness and a global pandemic. Yet, against all odds, he did appear, helping to dispel my doubts…’

On the evening airwaves of The One Show, I found myself beaming from ear to ear, unable to hide my joy. To hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott, I gleefully exclaimed, “A ring has been placed on it!” I shared with them that at the age of 49, I’ve finally met ‘my person’.

At the age of 51, I found myself getting married, a joyous event indeed! For years, I corresponded with Gary about portraying Miranda on-screen. It wasn’t until I was 49 that I finally encountered the one who is now my partner in life.

She continued: ‘It’s a little undercurrent in the book, I’m not going to reveal how we met because that’s a little bit of a twist.’

‘He’s my best friend, we had the best fun and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.’ 

Miranda’s private life, particularly her dating history, has always remained unspoken and she’s generally been perceived as being single when under public scrutiny.

For several years, the comedian has taken on fewer acting roles and decided not to rejoin the cast of Call the Midwife because of an ongoing, undisclosed health issue, which she recently disclosed as Lyme disease.

She disclosed that she had a bacterial illness transmitted by ticks, exhibiting symptoms similar to the flu such as tiredness, headaches, inflammation in the joints, and a high temperature.

However, in her publication, she expressed that she found herself back in a state of happiness and tranquility, having made a miraculous physical recovery beyond what she initially believed was achievable, and then encountering her current spouse.

The couple initiated their relationship by talking on the phone frequently during the pandemic and later shared their first date in her living room over a platter of biscuits. They weren’t worried about taking that awkward first kiss, as they had to maintain a safe distance of two meters apart.

He’d escort her for strolls in the park, guide her to pottery workshops, and drive her along the coast to Dorset, stopping at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

Speaking about her feelings prior to their first date, she shared: ‘Despite only meeting The Guy briefly and talking to him a few times over the phone [quite 90s of us], I had developed quite a liking for him already.’

In this situation, I chose to stop concealing myself or genuine feelings. I opted to expose my vulnerability in order to foster an authentic bond. As I entered the room, my heart pounded with anticipation.

Later on, they had their first romantic getaway in Dorset, staying at a cozy cottage. Their affection for each other deepened during this trip, leading to the point where he decided to propose, making their love even more profound.

Four years after, an occasion that could’ve stirred excitement among Miranda admirers, he proposed to her during a stroll across a timbered bridge spanning a lake in Kew Gardens, in the chilly month of January.

Miranda shared that her boyfriend proposed they stroll through Kew Gardens. It turned out to be a charming amble, and it transformed into something enchanting as the sun began to pierce through the overcast skies near a vast, meandering bridge crossing a lake.

I could feel my partner gently clasp my hand, a gesture that typically indicates his deep emotions stirred by the beauty around us.

‘That was true, but it turned out his heart was starting to race for another reason.

On the bridge by the tranquil lake, we remained motionless until a moment of quietude was broken. He spoke in a grave tone, saying my name, “Miranda.” Upon hearing this, I turned to find him kneeling on one knee.

To her countless admirers, it’s a victory since they followed her semi-autobiographical character on the BBC sitcom, Miranda, for six years, as she endeavored to find a partner.

In my fervent admiration, I penned down: “Funnily enough, when we discussed the subject of my profession, there was always a shared amusement over his limited exposure to it. Yet, this seemingly uninterested individual never failed to appreciate and acknowledge its significance.

If a program featuring me were to air, he wouldn’t give it much attention since he wasn’t interested in the person on screen. It was truly gratifying when someone acknowledged that I was genuine and appreciated aspects of my personality that I had perhaps overlooked myself.

However, they reconciled and she penned: ‘The Person I Knew as The Boy transformed into My Boyfriend. Frankly, I had never imagined that I would stumble upon someone who could embody perfection for me in such an authentic manner across all aspects.’

Miranda, believed to possess an estimated wealth of approximately £5 million, suddenly found herself under the public eye after her 2009 BBC series, in which Patricia Hodge portrayed her domineering mother, skyrocketed in popularity and instantaneously gained widespread acclaim.

For many years, British viewers would tune in during the workweek to follow the sitcom centered around a comedian, finding themselves both laughing and wincing as they witnessed her socially awkward quest for romance, often leading to disastrous dating experiences.

In reality, the comic humorously commented on her challenging romantic history by stating, “I was quite innocent in matters of love. My initial partner suggested the missionary position, so I fled to Africa for half a year.
