CBS is adjusting how it will release episodes of its Western drama, Marshals, when the show returns for its second season this fall.
Created by Spencer Hudnut, Marshals is a spin-off of Yellowstone following Kayce Dutton as he starts a new job as a U.S. Marshal after his wife’s death. The first season premiered in the middle of 2026 and became CBS’s most-watched show for the 2025-2026 television season. Instead of waiting until mid-season again, the show will return this fall.
CBS revealed its fall 2026 TV schedule this week, and there’s a slight change for fans of Marshals. The season two premiere, originally set for 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 4th, will now air at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
The network is starting the evening with two NFL games, immediately followed by the season 49 premiere of 60 Minutes on September 13th.
Viewers in the Pacific Time Zone will still be able to watch the show at 8 p.m.
After the season 2 premiere of Marshals, CBS will air the fourth season premiere of Tracker at 9:30 p.m. Eastern and 9 p.m. Pacific time.
The new show related to Yellowstone will start airing at its original time of 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 11th, the same time it aired during its first season.
This fall, CBS will also be launching new seasons of popular shows like Survivor, The Amazing Race, FBI, CIA, and Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, along with the NCIS franchise (NCIS, NCIS: New York, and NCIS: Origins). New comedies and dramas joining the lineup include Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Eternally Yours, Elsbeth, Cupertino, Sheriff Country, Fire Country, Boston Blue, and the long-running news magazine 48 Hours.
The new seasons of Ghosts, Matlock, and Einstein will begin airing mid-season. However, CBS will also show special Halloween and holiday episodes of Ghosts on October 29th and December 10th.
Luke Grimes is known for playing Kayce Dutton, a role he first originated on the popular series Yellowstone. His work on Yellowstone even earned him a nomination for a SAG Award as part of the show’s ensemble cast. Before that, Grimes appeared in several films, including Taken 2, American Sniper, all three Fifty Shades movies, and The Magnificent Seven. He’s also had roles on TV shows like Brothers & Sisters and True Blood.
Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Brecken Merrill, Mo Brings Plenty, and Gil Birmingham all star alongside Grimes in season two of Marshals.
The Yellowstone universe now includes four shows: the original Yellowstone, along with its prequels 1883 and 1923, and the newest additions, Marshals and Dutton Ranch.
After two episodes of Marshals season 1 aired, CBS greenlit a second season in mid-March. Whereas the first season only had 13 episodes, the network has ordered a full season for Marshals‘ sophomore installment, though an exact episode count has not been revealed.
Marshals season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4 at 8:30 p.m. EDT / 8 p.m. PDT on CBS.
