As a seasoned viewer of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that Nick and his partner Luba have captured my heart from their very first performance. Their passion for dance is palpable, and it’s evident they’ve poured their hearts into each routine.

It seems that Nick Knowles from Strictly has had an unfortunate run, as he had to withdraw from this weekend’s show due to suffering a second injury.

As a seasoned lifestyle advisor, I find myself regrettably sidelined from Movie Week, merely a week after speculations about my role on the show arose due to a troublesome shoulder issue. During the course of rehearsals, an unforeseen mishap left me nursing an injured knee as well.

In the spin-off show “It Takes Two,” paired with Luba Mushtuk, he made an appearance on a Friday, mere hours following an injury. Despite being in pain, he was seen using crutches and was waiting for an MRI to determine the extent of his injury.

Despite rumors suggesting that Nick Knowles might have to withdraw from the contest permanently due to concerns from his superiors, TopMob poses the question: “Why is it that Nick Knowles seems to be so often involved in accidents?

Here’s a look at the full list of his health woes….

Artery rupture

In the year 2014, a sudden sneeze caused Nick’s sinus artery to burst, resulting in heavy bleeding.

According to Birmingham Live, at that point in time, Nick attributed his situation to his hectic schedule and expressed: “I was on the verge of repeating my father’s actions. That’s why I decided to go to a wellness retreat in Thailand. I started practicing yoga, adopted a vegan lifestyle, and these changes have proved beneficial for me.

When the host was only 33 years old, Nick’s dad, Edwin, passed away due to a stroke. Since then, he has openly confessed feelings of guilt over his father’s death.

In a recent episode of “Death: A Changing Industry” podcast, he shared that he struggled immensely during that time and, unfortunately, wasn’t able to spend as much quality time with him in the nursing home as he should have during the final year of his life.

After he sadly died, I suddenly understood that I hadn’t supported him when he needed me the most. This realization struck me during one of the hardest periods of his life, when I couldn’t manage things as well as I should have. It took a significant amount of time for me to come to terms with this, and I was deeply saddened by it.

Secret long Covid

Towards the end of 2021, Nick disclosed that he had been battling the prolonged effects of COVID-19, known as Long COVID, for approximately ten months following his initial infection at the onset of the pandemic.

However, the broadcaster confessed he concealed his persistent tiredness out of concern for losing employment, and on one occasion, he needed to take a break midway up a ladder during a television production due to exhaustion.

Long COVID refers to a collection of ongoing health issues that some individuals experience even after recovering from the COVID-19 infection, which may persist for several months.

On Lorraine’s show, Nick mentioned that he had a severe case of COVID-19 right as lockdown began. He admitted he pushed himself to return to exercising prematurely.

For approximately ten months following my diagnosis, I experienced symptoms that my doctor referred to as “long COVID.” I hesitated to share this information with others due to concerns about potential negative impacts on my professional engagements.

Additionally, the speaker detailed his strategy for concealing his symptoms, which he humorously described as: ‘I needed to pause while ascending a ladder and feign I was merely enjoying the scenery!’

Thankfully, Nick told Lorraine: ‘I’ve been better now for about seven months.’

Near death experience

Apart from leading DIY SOS, Nick has also been the face for several other programs, and he encountered a close brush with death during the filming of his show titled Amazing Railway Adventures.

17 or 18 years ago, I tumbled off a vehicle in Africa and required an air rescue. This was shared with The Sun.

His wild antic have also had long term effects: ‘My shoulders, neck, back, knees, everything is knackered because of accidents over the years,’ he admits, considering his various injuries as ‘a badge of honour’.

Strictly injury 1

Last week, Nick found himself anxious about his residence, due to an injury he received while trying to change a flat tire when his vehicle broke down on his way to celebrate his 62nd birthday.

He’s headed to the studios today, which happens to be the day of the show. Over the past couple of days, he’s been practicing the dance as best as he can. (Nick posted on Instagram)

I’ll put my heart and soul into it tonight, aiming for a top-notch performance. My pro partner, Luba Mushtuk, has truly outdone herself with an incredible dance routine she’s created for us.

“Now, I just need to carry out the task. This week has been challenging, but I can hardly wait to dance tonight! As for my shoulder, it’s improving day by day.

‘I truly appreciate all your messages of encouragement and affection you’ve shared, and I wanted to remind you that my spot in the bottom four is due to last week’s performance. Tonight’s dance could determine whether I stay or leave the competition, so if you’d like us to continue our journey together with Luba, please don’t forget to vote for us!’

As an over-the-moon admirer, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Nick got the go-ahead from the showrunners, their decision bolstered by his immense appeal among viewers. The moment arrived in week two, and he danced his heart out, racking up 21 points from a possible 40.

Strictly injury 2

On Friday’s It Takes Two show, Nick shared that he was going for an MRI scan and has been using crutches since hurting himself during the dress rehearsal.

Accompanied by his partner Luba mere hours after injuring himself, he declared: “In our initial practice, during today’s full dress rehearsal on stage,

Unfortunately, due to an injury I sustained on my knee, which is causing me considerable pain, my physiotherapists suggest that I undergo an MRI scan.

‘Luba mentioned sadly that there won’t be any dancing tomorrow, but she’s very much hoping her knee recovers well enough for the following week so we can dance again.’

‘Fingers crossed, we really hope that we’ll be back and see you guys very soon.’

However, with a positive spin, Nick joked that even if we need to make his walking aids sparkle, he’s committed to recovering enough to dance for you again next week.

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a kind of examination which employs powerful magnets and radio waves to generate precise pictures of the body’s internal structure.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share some inside scoop I’ve picked up: They’re giving our idol scans, and that speaks volumes about the gravity of his situation. Time is running out for his recovery, and we can only hope it’s enough.

Expressing this in a simpler, more conversational manner: ‘Nick being quite well-liked, his early exit from the contest might negatively impact the show’s viewership.’

Things aren’t looking too promising right now, but everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that things will improve over the weekend.
