Yvette Nicole Brown gives an update on the Community movie at Peacock

As a dedicated Community fan with years of unwavering loyalty under my belt, let me assure you all that the anticipation for this movie is as palpable as Troy’s love for his imaginary dragon. It’s been a long and winding road, but I have faith that it will be worth the wait. The recent update from Yvette Nicole Brown about the film being “going to happen” filled my heart with joy, even though the script is currently undergoing some tweaks.

Trust me, fellow Community enthusiasts, I understand how it seems like the movie will never materialize. However, rest assured, it’s in the works, it’s just taking longer than expected. Frankly, I can’t wait to watch it. I’d prefer the writers of “Community: The Movie” to take their time and create a hilarious masterpiece rather than rushing the process. After all, patience is a valuable trait. As for the latest news, Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley in the series, has given an update about the film.

According to TheWrap, the actor confirmed that the upcoming movie, set to stream on Peacock, is indeed moving forward despite potential minor delays. The reason for these delays is that the script is being revised to better suit the role of Shirley, which was not originally intended for Brown. However, now that she’s involved, the writers are adjusting the script to incorporate her character effectively.

I’m unfazed by any delay this might have caused. I’m thrilled that I’ll be meeting Shirley once more, and I can’t wait for the occasion! It’s worth noting that all actors have gone through the entire script at this point. However, the script that was initially completed is now undergoing changes, so it’s not the final version just yet. Don’t worry, we’ll eventually reach the finish line. There are several reasons why things have been taking longer than expected. In an interview with TheWrap, here’s what she said:

It’s just now trying to get all these puzzle pieces together of everybody’s schedule. We were scheduled to do it, and then the [actors] strike happened [in 2023]. And now it’s like trying to figure out when is so-and-so done with their show? When is so-and-so done with their movie? When is so-and-so off tour? It’s all of those things that we’re trying to now get together, but it’s going to happen. We are going to do the movie, and we’re all on board to do it.

A good number of our cast members are keeping themselves occupied, which is fantastic news! I personally applaud their success beyond our beloved show, ‘Community’. The circumstances surrounding the unavailability of some actors, such as Donald Glover, should not be attributed to a single cause or individual, contrary to what some enthusiastic fans suggested. Despite Joel McHale’s commitment to his new series, ‘Animal Control’, he is fully engaged and has openly shared that scheduling conflicts were the issue at hand this time around. We understand and sympathize with their busy schedules!

Great news! We can confirm that the entire original cast of Community, excluding Chevy Chase, will feature in the upcoming movie. Let’s concentrate on this positive aspect and rejoice about it. Keep in mind, though, there’s still some time before we can watch it. Fortunately, we’ve got a complete cast that has agreed to be part of the production, promising an unforgettable experience! It’s going to be fantastic!
