Freddie Flintoff ‘set to host Christmas special revival of beloved 1980s British gameshow’ in first TV signing since horror Top Gear crash

On this popular UK game show, competitors faced off in both dart matches and trivia challenges, with the chance to earn money and gifts. The show was also known for its lively cartoon character, a talking bull named Bully, who served as the program’s emblem.
This signifies that it’s Freddie’s initial contract for a new TV show after the serious accident he had on Top Gear in 2022, an incident that resulted in grave facial wounds and necessitated a period of seclusion to recuperate.
According to The Sun, Freddie is overjoyed to be featured in a remake of Bullseye, and TV executives at ITV are optimistic that this special episode could pave the way for a complete series.
He told the publication: ‘I love the darts and Bullseye was one of my favourite shows as a kid. I can’t quite believe I’ll get to host this Christmas special. You can’t beat a bit of Bully!’
Freddie is a big fan of darts, having grown up playing the game with his friends and even holds a world record for the longest distance to throw a bullseye.
A source hinted at the upcoming revival, stating: “Freddie will find this character an excellent fit for the next phase of his professional journey, and fans are bound to rejoice as they welcome him back to their TV screens leading this beloved show.
Not many might have anticipated this move, yet it’s an inspired choice given that Freddie shares a similar dry, witty humor and style reminiscent of Jim from Lancashire.

Not too long ago, in 2006, there was a brief revival of this beloved program, graced by the charismatic presence of Dave Spikey as the host.
Following the incident where Freddie experienced a crash in an open-air, three-wheeled Morgan Super 3 vehicle traveling at around 130mph, during the production of Top Gear and without any airbags for protection.
Straight after the unfortunate incident, I found myself in a harrowing 45-minute ordeal as I waited for the air ambulance to make its way to me and transport me to the hospital. Later on, the news broadcaster extended their sympathies to me.
Filming for Top Gear, a TV show where he co-hosts with comedian Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, has been halted, leaving the show’s future uncertain following its indefinite pause in November.
For several months, Freddie was out of the spotlight while he recuperated from the accident. It wasn’t until nearly a year later that he was spotted in public again, this time assisting the England cricket team as a coach.
It’s widely reported that he received a £9 million settlement from the BBC after the incident, and they issued an apology to the cricketer as well.
Since the occurrence, the star has seldom appeared in public, as it is said that his loving spouse Rachel, aged 42, supposedly implored him to avoid work and focus on recovery instead.
Yet, following an apology in March 2023 for his past injuries, BBC decided to include him once more in the latest season of Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, where he leads a team of young cricketers embarking on a tour across India.
