As a gamer who grew up with The Lord of the Rings trilogy as an integral part of my formative years, the prospect of revisiting Middle Earth is nothing short of exhilarating! The idea of Orlando Bloom potentially returning as Legolas, and Sir Ian McKellen possibly reprising his role as Gandalf, sends a wave of nostalgia through me.
It’s been mentioned that Orlando Bloom is considering rejoining the world of The Lord of the Rrings for future movies.
Earlier in the year, it became known that the franchise would make its comeback featuring “The Hunt for Gollum” and another yet-unnamed venture. The renowned actor Andy Serkis, along with possibly other talented individuals, is expected to reenact their iconic characters in these upcoming projects.
Actor Richard Armitage, best known for his portrayal of Legolas in Peter Jackson’s live-action trilogy, has added his voice to the ongoing speculation about a possible comeback. However, he hasn’t definitively ruled out the possibility of revisiting his character, the skilled Elf, in future projects.

He expressed to Variety, “Wow, those things are incredible!” He went on to confess his confusion about how they’d pull it off, suggesting perhaps AI is the key these days. But if Peter Jackson tells him to leap, he leaps without question. After all, Peter Jackson was instrumental in launching his career. He’s unsure of their plans, but then again, who knows what wonders Peter Jackson can conjure?
I had a conversation with Andy [Serkis], and he mentioned they were brainstorming ideas. When I asked about the feasibility, he suggested AI as a solution, which left me quite astonished. It was an enchanting period in my life, and it’s one of those instances where there’s no negative aspect to it.
In a recent development, it’s not just Bloom who’s discussing the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” movies; Sir Ian McKellen, known for his portrayal of Gandalf, has also voiced his thoughts. He hinted that Gandalf could appear in the films, although he wasn’t certain if he would be the one reprising the role.

The renowned actor recently learned about plans for additional movies featuring Gandalf, hinting at his possible return to the role. As for when these films might be made or what the scripts contain, that remains to be seen since they haven’t been written just yet. But he urged them to move swiftly!
Elijah Wood, known for his role as Frodo Baggins in Jackson’s trilogy, expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of returning, stating: “It would be quite amazing [to return]. In truth, any chance to go back to New Zealand and work with those talented people again… it would be fantastic.
On December 13, The War of the Rohirrim from The Lord of the Rings hits theaters. In the year 2026, we can look forward to The Hunt for Gollum, another installment in The Lord of the Rings series.
