When Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is out

The release date for the game Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is October 11, 2024.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero characters

In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, a total of 139 unique characters and their known transformations are featured.

What’s the reason for such a large number? The extensive team is primarily driven by a unique gameplay aspect and an engaging anime narrative.

Sparking! Zero” is an extension of the Budokai Tenkaichi series. The latest installment, titled “Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4,” retains the battle mechanic where characters can transform during combat. Many fighters gain a stronger form after accumulating sufficient energy throughout the fight, making them more potent than if they transformed from scratch initially. A variety of Dragon Ball characters are included in “Sparking! Zero” to facilitate this feature.

As a gamer, I’d say: In this anime, the main characters, including Goku, embark on a journey that sees them growing in power from the very beginning. At first, they face foes not far beyond themselves, like Pilaf and Mercenary Tao. But as time passes, our heroes reveal more and more powerful abilities, layer upon layer. The villains, on the other hand, escalate their threat level, eventually reaching the caliber of Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, providing us with challenging opponents that keep the story engaging.

A fresh series unveils stronger versions of characters like Goku, his companions, and adversaries, some of which were seen in Dragon Ball Super: Resurrection ‘F’.

Below you’ll find the complete list of characters for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, organized by their basic forms and character types.

Goku

I’m completely captivated by him – the central figure, the heroic Goku, whose selfless acts of bravery save countless lives. From the epic tales of Dragon Ball, it’s evident that he’s not just a character but an icon, one of the greatest anime heroes to ever grace our screens.

Originating from a far-off planet inhabited by a warrior species known as Saiyans, Goku initially had a mission to observe and ultimately dominate Earth’s population. However, he failed in this task, instead forming bonds with humans, protecting them, and eventually safeguarding the Earth (and multiple universes) from numerous dire threats.

In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, Goku takes quite a lot of forms.

Vegeta

Originally a warrior serving under Frieza, the honorable Saiyan prince later became Goku’s adversary and ultimately transformed into one of the guardians protecting Earth.

Essentially, Vegeta often finds himself one move behind Goku, which greatly aggravates him. Yet, this situation seems to serve as a powerful driving force for Vegeta, pushing him to improve and surpass his rival.

Vegeta in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has a similar range of playable forms as Goku.

Fusions as characters of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

One great thing was invented in the Dragon Ball series — the characters can fuse and create a totally new person who inherits abilities of two basic forms. Goku and Vegeta used that to fight especially dangerous enemies.

There are two types of fusions. Dance fusion creates Gogeta. Potara fusion (via special earrings) creates Vegito. These characters are present in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, having a variety of forms, like in other games based on this anime, like DBFZ.

Many heroes of the Earth

During my epic journeys as a gamer, I’ve made countless companions. Initially, some of them were foes – like Tien and Piccolo, who later proved to be valuable allies in my quest for ever-increasing power. Others, such as Yamcha and Krillin, began by my side at the start of these adventures but found it hard to keep up with the rapid transformations I underwent along the way.

In this Dragon Ball Sparking Zero category, we find Master Roshi, Goku’s mentor, as well as Mr. Satan, a performer who may prove useful at times. Additionally, we have Nails, an ally of Goku from the Namek planet.

Kids of Goku and Vegeta

These two Saiyans found Earth-bound spouses and quickly had families bursting with offspring. Not your average little ones, though – they carry the strength of Saiyans within them. After rigorous training and numerous battles, these progenies are now prepared to enter Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. The appearance of these characters can vary based on their age, fusion capabilities, and Saiyan rank.

Additionally, we’ve included Videl in this mix too. Though she isn’t biologically a Saiyan, her strong emotional bond with Gohan enabled her to tap into some previously undiscovered abilities.

Frieza

In Dragon Ball: Sparking!, the universal emperor undeniably warrants a unique classification – he’s extraordinary in his powers and versatile in his forms. It was Frieza who brought out the legendary Super Saiyan form within Goku.

Frieza’s army

Without a doubt, the emperor doesn’t engage in battle single-handedly. He relies on capable subordinates to handle less formidable adversaries. However, it’s only when the challenges become extremely severe that Frieza himself steps in to obliterate those audacious (and foolish) enough to challenge him.

Vegeta, as a member of Z-Scouter, might not be present, but it’s important to note that during his service under Frieza, Vegeta wasn’t particularly loyal to the emperor. However, amongst the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero characters, we have several strong and reliable soldiers in his absence.

We have added Frieza’s father to this category as well. No one, even King Cold can be considered superior to the emperor!

Villains

Several other characters from Dragon Ball Sparking Zero could fit this description, but they ended up in different narrative factions instead.

17 and 18 are robots built by Dr. Gero, who initially brought about some problems before switching allegiances. Meanwhile, Cell represents the most powerful Android, and his strength played a crucial role in propelling Gohan to achieve his peak power level.

The quirky character known as Majin Buu has a unique ability to assimilate skills from others. He developed a friendship with Mr. Satan and left behind his malicious side. On the other hand, Dabura and Spopovich were loyal servants of the wicked sorcerer Babidi, who inadvertently awakened Majin Buu.

Saiyans among Dragon Ball Sparking Zero characters

The Saiyans were a somewhat feral group of warriors, but most of them were wiped out by Lord Frieza. Some survivors served under Frieza (such as Raditz). Others escaped to distant worlds and forged their unique paths to power. Notably, Bardock stands out because he is actually Goku’s father, who sacrificed his life defending their planet.

It is always great to have Saiyans as playable characters in Dragon Ball fighting games, including Sparking! Zero.

Warriors from various universes

In the thrilling world of Dragon Ball, I find myself constantly tapping into my hidden strength through fierce competition. The Tenkaichi battles on Earth were intense, but it was only the tip of the iceberg. The true heavyweights from other dimensions didn’t join those fights. They required something far greater, like the Tournament of Power. Even some of the villainous characters from Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero prove to be formidable opponents indeed.

Gods

At every rank, Kais join in on the thrill of Dragon Ball. They can be current or upcoming deities of destruction, such as Beerus and Toppo. They might serve other deities, like Whis, or even possess a malevolent disposition, similar to Zamasu.

We also have Goku Black here, who is not actually Goku but another version of Zamasu.
