As a huge fan of complex characters, I find Homelander in The Boys absolutely fascinating – and terrifying! He’s basically Superman if he was fueled by childish anger and a massive ego. Instead, he decides he’s better than everyone else just because he has superpowers, and sets out to prove it.
Creating truly epic movies is incredibly difficult, and many ambitious attempts have failed spectacularly. The 1980s especially demonstrate the importance of letting a director bring their full vision to life, consistently proving that grand, sweeping stories are the most successful. Though some of these films have faded from memory, they remain excellent examples of filmmaking from that time.
