Netflix viewers left ‘so upset’ after hit real estate reality show is suddenly axed amid ‘production cost’ struggles
As a dedicated fan who has followed the glamorous world of Beverly Hills real estate for seasons now, it is with a heavy heart that I write this opinion piece. The sudden cancellation of “Buying Beverly Hills” has left me feeling like I’ve just been evicted from a million-dollar mansion!
Buying Beverly Hills has been cancelled after just two seasons.
The Netflix series spotlights Mauricio Umansky, previously married to Kyle Richards from the Real Housewives franchise, who manages a luxury real estate firm much like the one depicted in Selling Sunset, focusing on premium property transactions.
In the show, Mauricio appeared with his daughters Farrah and Alexia, and a new set of episodes premiered in March.
However, Deadline claims the sudden cancellation was due to ‘the comparison between audience viewership and production costs’.
People on social media swiftly shared their thoughts, some expressing shock or surprise upon hearing the news.
One wrote: ‘I’m surprised buying Beverly Hills was cancelled’ (sic)
A person stated, ‘Netflix decided not to purchase Beverly Hills,’ expressing their disappointment with a solitary tear emoji.
A third fumed: ‘Omg, this makes me so upset that @netflix didn’t want to pick up for Season 3 of Buying Beverly Hills. Damn I love this family so much.
1. “I find them incredibly skilled at their tasks, and I’m really enjoying this series while also growing curious about the real estate industry.” (Paraphrased from your original sentence)
The last season chronicled the highs and lows experienced by Mauricio and his well-known spouse, ultimately leading to their separation following their marital troubles.
At a certain time, he shared with his daughters that despite making every effort to rescue their marriage, Kyle required ‘some personal space.’ He granted him the freedom to pursue relationships with others, however, under the stipulation that such matters remained confidential.
In a scene from the second season opener, he shared with his daughters, “I’ve spent the last 26 years cherishing my time with your mother, and I tried every means to preserve it. Then, your mother visited and expressed, ‘I believe I need some personal space.'”
She told me, “Here’s the deal: Feel free to go out, date, or do whatever suits your fancy.”
Additionally, there was a storyline in the second season revolving around Sophia, Kyle and Mauricio’s daughter, taking part in their family enterprise.
Additionally, there was a moment depicted where the parents gathered with all four of their girls to discuss the recent news about their separation, following its initial public announcement.
The unscripted show premiered in late 2022 and has made it to a total of 18 episodes.
