Glen Powell reveals Twisters kiss scene with Daisy Edgar-Jones was CUT - and discusses backlash over its omission

As a dedicated fan of heart-throbbing films and enchanting performances, I can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment upon learning that Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones‘ steamy kiss was cut from Twisters. The anticipation had been building like a tornado, ready to sweep me off my feet with its passion. But alas, it seems that the legendary Steven Spielberg felt the scene was too cliché for his liking.

Glen Powell admitted to fans that a steamy scene was cut from his latest film Twisters.

The charismatic actor, aged 35, who was reportedly engaging in flirtatious behavior with Gracie Abrams, revealed to Screen Rant on Friday that executive producer Steven Spielberg eliminated a kissing scene between him and his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones as it was deemed too predictable or overused.

Audience members were disheartened when they learned that the main characters didn’t share a kiss, as this decision meant the movie missed out on a satisfying, joyful conclusion.

‘I’m taking it very personally,’ Glen quipped.

He confidently shared with the media that, indeed, you might have witnessed some backstage moments where we shared a kiss, Daisy Edgar-Jones and I. To put it simply, that moment is what truly matters. [Laughs] We had a fantastic experience working together, and I am genuinely proud of the movie we created.

The Top Gun: Maverick star said that fan’s response to the scene being cut ‘shows that people care, which is really great.’

He continued: ‘I just love how excited people have gotten about that movie, and Daisy and I send each other the TikToks and the gifs. There’s so much funny stuff coming out of it. It’s fun.

Having grown up as a cinephile, I can attest that summer movies have always held a special place in my heart. They not only provide a unique form of entertainment but also create a shared cultural moment that transcends geographical boundaries. During the summer months, people eagerly flock to theaters, dressed to impress, ready to immerse themselves in the cinematic experience. It’s always been an exciting time, filled with anticipation and camaraderie. So, whether or not a kiss (or any other plot development) is featured, everyone leaves the theater as winners, having shared a memorable experience together.

In another interview with Collider, Daisy suggested that the highly anticipated scene may not have been finalized because there could be more to their story in a potential sequel.

The 26-year-old actress expressed her thoughts as follows: ‘I find it truly special that it seems like there’s more to their tale. This isn’t where their journey ends; instead, they remain bonded by their mutual enthusiasm for a common interest.’

Glen added his thoughts, saying, “I believe the main focus of the film isn’t about their search for love. Instead, it’s about Kate rediscovering her passion for storm chasing, which is where she ends up by the end of the movie.”

Having grown up watching Steven Spielberg’s masterpieces, I can wholeheartedly attest to his exceptional ability to captivate audiences and stir emotions within us. In one particular movie, I recall a scene where two characters shared a deep bond, rekindling their passion for life and sense of belonging. A conventional kiss at the end might have been expected, but Spielberg opted for something more profound instead. It was a powerful choice that left a lasting impression on me and solidified my admiration for the director’s artistry. In fact, it is moments like these that keep me engaged in the world of cinema, always eager to witness the magic that only Spielberg can create. Truly, he has a knack for making ordinary characters extraordinary, and it’s no wonder why that kid remains in this game – it’s amazing!

According to IMDb, Twister centers around Daisy, a former storm chaser who’s been scarred by a traumatic tornado encounter during her college days. Now she analyzes storm patterns in New York City from behind a screen. However, her friend manages to draw her back to the vast open plains for a chance to test an innovative new tracking system.

In that location, she encounters Tyler Owens, a charismatic and risk-taking social media sensation known for his thrilling storm-chasing videos, along with his boisterous team. The wilder the situation, the more appealing it is to him.

On July 19, the movie, which falls under the genre of action-thrillers, hit the screens with Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane in prominent roles.
