Google announces Gemini Live – The next step in AI interaction

As a seasoned gamer and tech enthusiast with a soft spot for AI, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next big leap in artificial intelligence. With my gaming background, I’ve interacted with numerous NPCs (Non-Player Characters) and even AI bots that have kept me company during countless late-night gaming sessions. However, nothing compares to the potential of Google’s latest offering – Gemini Live.

Build new friends – but they might not be human.

Google’s cutting-edge AI, known as Gemini, is a key aspect of their technology, particularly in the latest models of Pixel devices and Android systems. The most recent development, Gemini Live, promises to revolutionize how we engage with artificial intelligence.

What is Gemini Live?

With Gemini Live, you can chat freely with Gemini without interruptions. You’re able to interrupt Gemini whenever you want and steer the discussion in a new direction. The continuous interaction ensures that responses are tailored to your specific conversation. Pausing or resuming the conversation is also flexible with Gemini Live. What’s more, you can communicate with Gemini Live even when your phone is locked, making it a convenient hands-free conversation experience.

So Does Gemini Live have Multimodal input?

Unfortunately, Google’s system doesn’t support multimodal input just now, but they’ve promised an update later in the year. This feature, first announced by Google earlier this year at Google I/O, enables phones to take pictures and videos of their surroundings to enrich the information provided in their responses.

Google’s counterpart to ChatGPT’s Voice Mode is called Gemini Live. While ChatGPT unveiled its voice feature, Google offered a sneak peek of what Gemini Live has in store. Similar to ChatGPT, Gemini Live will leverage context from various Google services such as YouTube, Docs, and more. For instance, it can pull information about the food items displayed in a video on YouTube, making it convenient for users who are seeking quick answers.

If you’re looking for suggestions on must-visit spots in a new country and prefer a quick rundown, consider watching a video by your preferred travel blogger on YouTube. From there, you can ask Gemini to compile the list of recommended destinations. To gather more details about each location, including ticket prices and accessibility, you can delve deeper for comprehensive information.
