This combined approach of co-regulation and self-regulation suggests a strategic allocation of cognitive resources, where learners leverage AI assistance while remaining firmly in control of the overall problem-solving process and interpretation of results.

The Delegated Reasoning (DR) profile is characterized by lower levels of regulatory engagement, indicating a student preference for efficiency achieved through cognitive offloading to the AI. This strategy involves students frequently utilizing the AI to perform reasoning tasks on their behalf, rather than engaging in extensive self-regulation or co-regulation. Quantitative analysis reveals that the proportion of Reasoning Invitations (RI), where students explicitly prompt the AI to provide reasoning, was highest within the DR cluster, reaching 40.47%.
