As a gamer who has lived through multiple gaming generations and countless hours of binge-watching TV shows, I can confidently say that Ted Lasso has left an indelible mark on my heart. The show’s charm, humor, and heartwarming moments have made it a standout in the sea of streaming content.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but reflect on the joy and warmth that Ted Lasso has brought into our lives over three incredible seasons. This show, centered around an American football coach unexpectedly managing an English soccer club, struck a chord with both sports enthusiasts and casual viewers alike. When the final season wrapped up in 2023, it felt like we were reaching the end of a beloved era on Apple TV+. Yet, there’s a lingering sense that our cherished Ted Lasso might still have some untold tales waiting to be shared.
What is the Premise of the Show?
As a diehard fan, I’d like to share my journey discovering Ted Lasso. Before gracing our screens on Apple TV, this hilarious series had humble beginnings as comedic skits during NBC Sports broadcasts. These segments struck a chord with viewers, and the team behind it, including Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly, Jason Sudeikis, and Brendan Hunt, decided to expand it into a full-fledged show.
Two long-standing friends and co-coaches, Rebecca Welton brings on board to manage AFC Richmond, her fictional Premier League club. Her motivation for hiring them was rooted in a desire to see the team fail as a means of revenge against her ex-husband Rupert Mannion, his childhood club, and the fact that he once owned the team. However, over three seasons, Lasso and Beard not only instilled faith in Rebecca but also united the team and community for an extraordinary journey. This journey touched the hearts of millions, making them fall in love with the series and its characters.
Where the Show left off?

Following Richmond’s triumph over West Ham, which was Rupert’s latest team, in their last Premier League game, Rupert’s questionable actions were brought to light and he is no longer West Ham’s owner. Despite Richmond finishing second to Manchester City, Lasso departed for Kansas City to be with his son Henry and guide the local team. Lasso’s former assistant and previous captain, Roy Kent, was appointed as the new head coach for Richmond, while Beard remains at the club, as he marries Jane. Meanwhile, it appears that “Wonder Kid” Nathan Shelley is once again serving as an assistant coach, although this isn’t explicitly confirmed in the statement.
In the last scene of season three, Henry, Lasso’s son, misses an opportunity during his soccer match and becomes disappointed. Ted then speaks with him, reminding Henry of a phrase his father often used when he was in charge of Richmond: “Act like a goldfish.”

Quickly, the program garnered widespread acclaim from both viewers and reviewers almost everywhere.
In its first season, Ted Lasso earned a 92% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes, which rose to an impressive 98% in season two. However, the rating dipped slightly to 88% in its final season. Kirsten Baldwin of Entertainment Weekly remarked that while the series doesn’t break new ground with its narrative structure, it successfully combines office humor, heartwarming sports motivation, and soap opera-style romance, making it an undeniably charming show overall.
Regarding its impressive victories, this production garnered numerous accolades throughout its broadcast. It accumulated a total of 138 nominations across various award ceremonies and walked away with 34 wins. One of its standout achievements was Jason Sudeikis securing back-to-back Golden Globe awards for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Television Series in the years 2021 and 2022, following his tenure on Saturday Night Live (SNL). Additionally, he received an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) was recognized with the Best Supporting Actor award, while Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) won for Best Supporting Actress. The show itself was honored with the Emmy for Best Comedy Series on two occasions as well.
Could we see a Fourth Season?
It seems clear that countless fans are eagerly anticipating another chapter of Ted Lasso, but it appears the final call lies with just one individual.
During a recent chat, Bill Lawrence, one of the creators, shared his thoughts on the possibility of the series continuing further.
According to Lawrence, “Whatever Jason Sudeikis chooses or feels like doing, we’re all on board with it.” She added, “Not only is he the main actor, scriptwriter, and the one whose life is undergoing a major transformation by moving to a foreign country with children.” Lawrence continued, “This is a significant event. So, as a fan, if someone says ‘It’s happening again,’ I’d go wild. As his partner, I support whatever he decides to do.”
As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but get excited at the prospect of a new season or spin-off from Warner Bros. TV. June of this year brought us the tantalizing news that the boss of Warner Bros. TV, Channing Dungey, was discussing just that – more episodes or a fresh take on our beloved game world.
“Jason Sudeikis seems receptive to the proposal, and it’s clear he values quality over quantity in his work, which I admire,” Dungey expressed. “Warner Bros shares this sentiment, as does Apple, because we don’t want to produce content for the sake of producing more. Instead, we aim to create content when we have a compelling story to tell. We’ll see what transpires.”
Prior to the anticipated comeback of “Ted Lasso,” Sudeikis is set to lend his voice to the third installment of the “Angry Birds” series, playing the character of Red. The exact release date for this movie has not been disclosed yet.
