The Avengers' apparent new leader will stun you beyond belief

As a long-time Marvel fan with memories of flipping through comic books as a kid and watching the Avengers come to life on the big screen, I must say that the rumors about Doctor Strange becoming the main Avenger in the upcoming sequel, Avengers: Doomsday, has me intrigued.

In the coming days, The Avengers will reunite with a significantly altered roster, following their last joint appearance in Avengers: Endgame. In this epic film, they assembled their most extensive team yet to confront Thanos and his forces, preventing the total destruction of the universe. However, this triumph was not without its casualties; several members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s elite squad suffered losses during the movie.

One of the two prominent figures in the franchise was Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, who had risen to prominence among them. The other character, Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America, likewise left the group following their success, deciding instead to spend his days happily with his longtime sweetheart Peggy Carter in the ’40s. As influential members of the team, the upcoming reunion of the Avengers presents an intriguing scenario: who will assume the leadership role this time around?

It seems that various sources are hinting at an unexpected choice for the lead role in the upcoming film _Avengers: Doomsday_.

Doctor Strange rumored to become the main Avenger in the next MCU movie

Based on recent news sources, it appears that Doctor Strange is tipped to play a significant role as the leading Avenger in the upcoming MCU’s Avengers film. This prediction comes from reliable sources such as Main Middle Man and Marvel News, who both suggest that the emphasis of the film will be on magic users, with Doctor Strange taking center stage as a result.

In the preliminary account, it’s suggested that the film focuses on Doctor Strange due to its heavy use of magic users, and Clea, portrayed by Charlize Theron, is also a significant character. This scenario isn’t implausible considering sorcerers are some of the most formidable characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). If Kang The Conqueror makes another appearance and then Doctor Doom takes over, the Avengers might require such powerful magic to face them.

The Avengers' apparent new leader will stun you beyond belief

It’s common knowledge that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role in the upcoming Avengers movie. In a recent video posted on Netflix’s Still Watching YouTube Channel, while discussing his new series titled “Eric”, the actor expressed his enthusiasm about being part of Avengers 5. He mentioned that he looks forward to stepping back into the character for the film, which is slated to start production next year.

I’m very much looking forward to Avengers next year, which is cooking up a storm.

Strange has often played a secondary role in the Avengers films because he doesn’t see himself as one of them; instead, he works alongside them because they all share the same goal – saving the universe from Thanos. But recent whispers and comments from Cumberbatch hint that we might see more of this character in the upcoming fifth (and potentially sixth) movies of the series.

In the previous instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Stephen Strange was enlisted by a sorceress named Clea (portrayed by Theron) during the post-credits scene in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” This recruitment followed rumors about “Doctor Strange 3,” one of several anticipated MCU sequels that Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed. Therefore, it came as a surprise to fans when it was announced that he will reappear on the big screen in an Avengers film before “Doctor Strange 3” is released.

If he is slated for the leading part, that might be why the Clea storyline didn’t necessitate an immediate continuation in Doctor Strange 3; it could instead serve a significant purpose in the Avengers: Doomsday narrative.

Considering all that we know so far, it’s intriguing to speculate about Doctor Strange’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga. There’s a possibility he could even become a primary Avenger. This might seem unexpected given earlier reports hinting at Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as potential new leaders, but since this film seems to be magic-centric, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to suggest that Stephen Strange could step up. If he does, it might pave the way for a different main Avenger/leader to emerge in the sequel Avengers: Secret Wars.
