Elden Ring Is A24’s Biggest Movie Yet with a $100 Million Budget

Production on the film is scheduled to begin this week in the UK, and crew have already been seen building sets resembling areas from the game, including Limgrave and a Church of Marika. The director is Alex Garland, known for films like Ex Machina and Civil War, and A24 is investing significantly more resources into this project than they did with Marty Supreme. Filming is expected to take 100 days, with the movie currently slated for release on March 3, 2028.

Some adaptations closely follow the original work – the first season of HBO’s The Last of Us is almost a direct recreation of the game. Others, however, drastically depart from it. Amazon’s Fallout series takes its own path, but still feels connected to the games. In contrast, Paramount’s Halo series shares very little with the games beyond the name and the look of the main character – it’s as if the creators only knew the cover art and guessed what the game might be about.
