As a seasoned reader with a penchant for dark and twisted tales, I’m beyond thrilled about A24’s upcoming film, “Altar.” With Fracassi’s Bram Stoker-nominated storytelling prowess and Abramenko’s chilling directorial skills, this promising collaboration is set to leave us all breathless.
In a pivotal summer of his youth, the movie “Altar” seems to unfold as a darker version of a rite-of-passage tale, in which the young protagonist finds himself compelled to mature at a pace far beyond what he could have ever anticipated. Actress Lily Collias, known for her role in “Good One,” is set to star opposite newcomer Hudson Behling. Notable stars such as January Jones (“Mad Men”), David Krumholtz (“Oppenheimer”), and Kyle MacLachlan (“Fallout”) are also part of the ensemble cast.
Fracassi is an author recognized with a Bram Stoker nomination, known for numerous celebrated stories and novels such as the award-winning anthology “Behold the Void,” books like “Gothic,” “Boys in the Valley,” and his upcoming work titled “The Third Rule of Time Travel.”
In 2022, it was announced that a film adaptation of his short story titled “Death, My Old Friend” had been planned. This tale centers around a boy forming an unconventional bond with Death personified. As they both grow up, Death starts claiming those dear to the boy, causing him to ponder the darker aspects of their friendship.
It seems quite like the theme behind “Altar” that’s being proposed for the upcoming A24 movie. However, I’m just guessing since I don’t have concrete information.
Egor Abramenko has gained recognition for his work directing commercials and music videos within Russia. His debut feature film, the chilling blend of horror, science fiction, and thriller genres titled “Sputnik“, was initially released in the United States through IFC Films in 2020. At present, this intriguing movie can be rented or purchased for viewing.
As a die-hard gamer and horror movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement for the chilling lineup A24 has in store for us this year! In September, Brandy’s chilling masterpiece, “The Front Room,” will send shivers down our spines. And if that wasn’t enough to get your heart racing, November will bring the highly anticipated “Heretic,” starring none other than the talented Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East. Buckle up, horror fans, it’s going to be a terrifyingly thrilling ride!
