As a devoted Star Trek fan who grew up watching The Original Series and eagerly awaited the arrival of The Next Generation, I was both skeptical and excited when the new series premiered in 1987. Some fellow fans dismissed it outright, while others, like myself, were willing to give it a chance.
Star Trek: The Next Generation began airing in 1987, introducing a fresh cast for the Enterprise to audiences. Some devoted fans of the original Star Trek series swore not to tune in, while others longing for more space explorations gave it a try. Despite initial challenges in its first year and some setbacks in the second, The Next Generation eventually found its footing, leading to seven seasons, four movies, and the offshoot series Star Trek: Picard. This enduring sci-fi favorite remains a must-see attraction at Comic Con for fans young and old.
Based on Mick Joest’s report for CinemaBlend, Patrick Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard chair is a notable attraction. Naturally, it comes with a “do not sit” warning sign to prevent eager fans from attempting to take a seat, as my own instinct would attest after encountering Discovery’s captain’s chair on the Star Trek cruise.
I was deeply touched and could have even teared up at the opportunity to view the authentic Captain’s Chair from Star Trek: The Next Generation for free.

According to Joest’s explanation, viewing the chair and other props, such as Geordi’s visor and Data’s hat and pipe from their holodeck appearances as Sherlock Holmes, comes at no cost.
I couldn’t help but share Data’s mementos from his Sherlock stage, as well as Geordi’s visor, and some amazing Doctor Who and Star Trek artwork that you don’t want to miss.

As a longtime fan of both Star Trek and Doctor Who, I can’t help but be utterly captivated by the stunning fusion of these two iconic franchises that’s currently on display outside the San Diego Convention Center. Having attended numerous Comic-Cons over the years, I’ve seen my fair share of impressive fan art, but this collection truly stands out as a work of art in its own right.
