Hulk Hogan rips off his shirt during fiery RNC speech: 'Let Trumpamania run wild'

As a longtime fan of professional wrestling and Hulk Hogan in particular, I have witnessed his larger-than-life persona both inside and outside the ring. Hulkamania, as he calls it, is a force to be reckoned with, full of energy, strength, and unwavering patriotism. So when I watched Hulk Hogan take the stage at the Republican National Convention to endorse former President Trump, I felt a sense of nostalgia and excitement.

As a devoted cinema goer, I’d put it this way: Although Hulk Hogan has hung up his wrestling boots, the larger-than-life American character he embodied in the ring continues to captivate audiences.

Six-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion Hogan, who has been friends with Trump for over 35 years, endorsed him at the Republican National Convention on Thursday. In his speech, Hogan referred to Trump as both a hero and gladiator.

Upon arriving here tonight, I was struck by the intense excitement and vibrancy in this very room. It felt almost as if I were standing on the hallowed grounds of Madison Square Garden, poised to claim another championship title. However, what I discovered instead was a gathering of genuine Americans. This marked the beginning of countless references to my iconic entrance theme, “Real American.”

In 2015, the WWE ended its agreement with Hogan following revelations that he had been captured on video using a racial slur. However, Hogan told TMZ at the time that he held no ill feelings towards the organization and harbored a wish to be Donald Trump’s running mate. Regardless, on Thursday, Hogan endorsed J.D. Vance for vice president, referring to the Republican duo as an exceptional team.

When he brought up the topic of the assassination attempt on Trump during Saturday’s discussion, I couldn’t help but be fully engrossed in his dramatic portrayal.

Ripping open his shirt to unveil a red muscle tank emblazoned with “Trump-Vance” and “MAGA,” he sobbed, “Let Trump’s frenzy take control, my friend. Let it reign once more. Let it make America great again.” Trump winked at him and blew him a kiss.

In his role as an entertainer, Hogan generally avoids expressing political views. However, with recent events in the country over the past four years and last weekend in particular, he can no longer keep quiet. He is speaking out now because he wants to make it clear that Donald Trump is a true American hero, and Hogan is proud to back him as the next president of the United States.

Hogan praised Trump’s determination to run for office in spite of being impeached twice and dealing with criminal and civil cases: “Let me tell you, Donald Trump is the most resilient person I’ve come across.”

To put it simply, he concluded his endorsement with a witty twist using his famous phrase, “What’s next when Hulkamania goes berserk around you?”

“What will you do when Donald Trump and his supporters overwhelm you, my friend?” he bellowed, eliciting cheers from the audience.

I’m here to add that Hogan wasn’t the sole sports-entertainment icon who graced the RNC stage on Thursday evening.

In the later hours of the evening, upon Trump’s request, Dana White, the UFC’s president and CEO, presented him to the crowd. He referred to Trump as a “fighter” and a “true American tough guy.”

“This man is the most robust and unyielding person I’ve encountered in my experience in dealing with tough situations,” White expressed.

Trump spoke to the 50,000 RNC attendees, some wearing earbands identical to his.

“Joining forces, we’ll protect this nation, revive the democracy, and bring about the promising and beautiful futures that our citizens have been longing for,” he expressed.
