Metal Slug Tactics Video Diary Goes Back in Time to the Series Golden Days
As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when I hear about the latest developments in the Metal Slug series. The new development diary released by Dotemu for Metal Slug Tactics brought back memories of endless hours spent playing the original games as a kid.
In an update, Metal Slug Tactics’ developer, Dotemu, has shared fresh insights about the progress of their upcoming turn-based strategy game.
In simpler terms, the video includes thoughts from past contributors of the Metal Slug series as they reminisce about its past impact. It’s surprisingly moving to witness, considering Metal Slug no longer holds the significance it once did.
It’s particularly pleasing to hear Naoto Abe, head of Game Division Studio 1 at SNK, reminisce about the game’s captivating pixel animations, which continue to impress us with their beauty.
As I play Metal Slug, everything around me seems to buzz with life. This is what makes Metal Slug unique, in my opinion. The animations remain as smooth and fluid as ever. And let me tell you, the animation patterns at such small sprite sizes continue to impress me, even in today’s gaming landscape.
Dotemu, which is renowned for reviving arcade classics, is the team behind Metal Slug Tactics in development. They’ve previously brought us Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. (Or, Dotemu, known for breathing new life into classic arcade games, is developing Metal Slug Tactics, having previously released Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.)
As a longtime fan of the Metal Slug series, I’m both excited and intrigued by the announcement of Tactics. Based on the name alone, I can’t help but see it as a fresh take on the franchise that I’ve grown to love over the years.
Metal Slug Tactics is out this autumn, on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
