Zoe Saldana has reportedly signed on for Star Trek 4, but does that really mean anything?
As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-life adventures, I’ve learned to be patient and hopeful when it comes to eagerly anticipated sequels. The news about Zoe Saldana signing on for Star Trek 4 is indeed a step forward, but as someone who’s been waiting since the release of the first Kelvin Timeline film, I can’t help but feel like we’re still stuck in a Klingon warp tunnel with no end in sight.
There seems to be progress toward Star Trek 4 in the Kelvin Timeline, as Zoe Saldana (Lt. Uhura) has agreed to appear in the film. However, it’s important to note that none of the actors have received a script so far. In her own words, Saldana hasn’t seen one yet.
It remains uncertain what’s causing the delay in Star Trek 4 production, given the numerous elements involved, it can be challenging to stay updated. However, it’s worth considering whether the filmmakers might be facing financial constraints or time limitations that are hindering the progress of the sequel. Despite the actors’ enthusiasm for reprising their roles, this speculation arises due to the prolonged delay in production.
Obtaining one of the main stars for the project is progress, but we’re still far from completion. It’s possible that other actors are being considered at this stage to help shape the story and decide who should stay or go, although this is merely speculation. In truth, those with inside knowledge about Star Trek 4 aren’t offering many details. Given the current situation, it might be advantageous for the fourth film to transition from a cinema release to a streaming platform premiere, as Movie Section 31 managed to move swiftly towards its launch. However, the salaries for actors like Chris Pine and Karl Urban could exceed what Paramount+ is willing or able to pay.
With Saldana set to return for another round in Star Trek 4, we find ourselves one step closer to the movie, albeit it may not materialize in the next year or so.
