In a move that has crypto fanatics scratching their heads (or possibly their wallets), Mike Novogratz’s Galaxy Digital has reportedly pulled off a hefty swap. They’ve traded about $100 million worth of Ethereum for Solana. Yes, you heard that right: Ethereum—the beloved “king” of crypto—was swapped for Solana, which, if we’re being honest, still has some explaining to do at the family reunion.
According to a post from Wu Blockchain, and some fancy onchain data from Lookonchain (which sounds like something you’d find in a shady corner of the internet), Galaxy Digital transferred a whopping 65,600 ETH—which was worth about $105 million—over to Binance in the last two weeks. Not bad, Mike, not bad. I guess when you’re dealing with millions, the paper trail just gets… interesting.
But wait, there’s more! In a stunning twist that would make any financial thriller writer jealous, Galaxy Digital didn’t just send the ETH out into the ether—they also pulled a cool 752,240 SOL (worth about $98.37 million) from Binance. The big question: is this a “strategic” move, or is it just Mike trying to diversify his crypto portfolio like the rest of us diversify our Netflix shows? Who’s to say?
One thing’s for sure—this doesn’t just highlight Galaxy Digital’s interest in diversifying their holdings. No, it’s an all-in bet on Solana. Apparently, the Solana ecosystem is the new shiny toy in the crypto world. I mean, Ethereum’s nice and all, but who doesn’t like the idea of jumping on a new trend?
