So, Soluna Holdings, apparently on some mission to take over the world of renewable energy, just bought themselves a wind farm in Texas. Yeah, a 150 MW wind farm. Just like that. Oh, and it’s going to power their AI data center campus, because of course it will. Everything’s gotta be AI these days, right?
On April 2, 2026, Soluna announced that it had successfully closed a $53 million acquisition of the Briscoe Wind Farm in West Texas. The deal was financed using cash and debt-real creative, huh?-and now Soluna’s got itself a renewable energy source for their so-called Project Dorothy data center. Because, apparently, AI doesn’t run on normal power anymore, it needs wind power. Only the best for these machines!
The acquisition was “immediately accretive,” which is just a fancy way of saying they’re expecting to make anywhere from $6 million to $11 million in the first year. It’s funny how “immediately accretive” sounds like someone trying to convince you this was a good deal without fully explaining it. But hey, whatever works, right?
Now, with 150 MW at this site, Soluna’s laying the groundwork for a 300 MW expansion. Because, of course, a 150 MW wind farm isn’t enough. They need 300 MW to fuel even bigger AI ambitions. And all of this is happening in West Texas, where apparently the wind just blows at exactly the right time for these people.
And just to sweeten the deal, Soluna is now “energy sovereign”-whatever that means. They don’t need anyone else to supply their power, because now they’ve got their own. No third-party power purchase agreements here, folks. They control the power, they control the land, and they control the computers. It’s like they’re setting up a mini kingdom in Texas, except instead of castles, it’s all about wind farms and AI computing.
John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, was quoted as saying, “Energy sovereignty is the key durable moat in the AI infrastructure race.” Yeah, well, I guess owning a wind farm in Texas is as good a moat as any in this AI race. Whatever gives you the edge, right?
🧭 FAQs
• Where is this Briscoe Wind Farm? Sounds like an epic place. It’s in West Texas. You know, where everything’s big. And windy.
• What kind of cash are they expecting from this? Will they get rich? Soluna thinks they’ll make somewhere between $6 million and $11 million in their first year. Which sounds great, until you realize they spent $53 million to get there.
• How does this affect Project Dorothy? Did Dorothy just get a bigger house? Yep, they’re building a 300 MW AI campus now. Because why settle for a 150 MW wind farm when you can double it?
• What’s the wind farm connected to, a magical grid? No, they’re using a GE Vernova turbine system with an ERCOT grid connection. No magic involved. Just good ol’ wind power.
