Wireless Festival was canceled because the UK refused to grant a visa to its headlining performer, the rapper Ye, who has been facing controversy.
The U.K. government refused to grant Ye a travel permit because of his past antisemitic statements.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that Kanye West, formerly known as Ye, should not have been chosen as a headliner for the Wireless festival.
The government strongly supports the Jewish community and is committed to fighting antisemitism. We will continue to take all necessary steps to protect people and defend our principles.
As a result, the entire summer festival was scrapped and ticket holders were issued refunds.

As a longtime cinema and music fan, I was really surprised to see Ye headlining Rolling Loud in Inglewood. After everything that happened – his very public praise of Nazis – it just feels… complicated. A lot of people, including Jewish community groups and many rap fans like myself, are understandably anxious about it. It’s a tough situation, and honestly, I’m conflicted about attending.
I was really shocked to hear the news about YE. Apparently, the UK Home Office cancelled his travel authorization, meaning he can’t come to the UK, and that’s forced Wireless Festival to be cancelled. The festival organizers put out a statement saying they’d already spoken to everyone involved before booking him, and no one had raised any red flags at the time. They’re promising full refunds to everyone who bought tickets, which is good, but it’s still a huge disappointment for fans – and a really messy situation all around.
They strongly condemned antisemitism in all its forms and acknowledged the harm it causes. Following comments made by YE, they stated he understands that simply saying sorry isn’t enough, but he still wants to have a dialogue with the Jewish community in the U.K.

The rapper kicked off a two-night performance on Wednesday, playing both new tracks and classic hits on a large dome-shaped stage set up on the stadium floor.
Kanye West said, in a statement to the BBC, that he’s been listening to the discussion about his recent comments and understands that simply apologizing with words isn’t enough. He promised to demonstrate real change through his actions and indicated he’s willing to engage in a dialogue if others are open to it.
After years of making controversial and often antisemitic statements, and using Nazi imagery, Ye is attempting a public return. He recently explained in a Wall Street Journal ad that he’s been dealing with the aftermath of a car accident that caused a frontal lobe injury, as well as a bipolar 1 diagnosis. He admitted to being drawn to the swastika, a symbol he now recognizes as deeply destructive, and losing touch with reality. He expressed deep regret for his past words and actions, stating that ignoring his problems only made things worse.
He just released his new album, “Bully,” and gave a successful concert at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, playing all his popular songs. However, he didn’t mention anything about his recent controversies or actions.
