The final two episodes of Big Mood aired on Thursday, April 30th, and showed how much Maggie and Eddie’s friendship had fallen apart. Throughout the season, the show explored whether their bond could withstand challenges and outside influences.
The second part of Big Mood largely focused on the consequences of Whitney joining the group, and how Eddie’s new friendship with her made Maggie feel increasingly left out. Given how close Maggie and Eddie usually are, this change in their dynamic was hard to miss.
By the end of the season, Maggie and Eddie finally had to deal with the hurt they’d caused each other. They revisited the bar where they first became friends and had a deeply honest conversation, one of the most emotional of the series. After Maggie revealed she’d previously experienced lithium poisoning, they left together, hinting that they might be able to rebuild their friendship.

The season finale leaves the possibility of future episodes open, but it’s unclear if Big Mood will be renewed for a third season. Creator Camilla Whitehill has openly shared that the second season’s storyline was deliberately unpredictable, even for her. She told TV Insider she wanted to explore the impact of a new character on the existing dynamic and admits she didn’t have a clear ending in mind. She wasn’t even sure if the main characters would reconcile.
Camilla admitted she’s unsure about the future of Big Mood, even beyond the current season. While pleased with how the second season wraps up, she doesn’t have clear ideas for a third season and doesn’t envision the show continuing indefinitely. She originally intended to focus on the story of this particular friendship in this specific setting, leaving her open to either continuing or ending the series.
What to Read Next
I absolutely loved Big Mood, and it’s so cool to hear Lydia West, who played Eddie, feels the same way about the show as we do! She’s said she’d be totally up for working with the cast again, but also that it’s hard to plan too far ahead – which I get. She explained that you just hope a show connects with people when it’s made, and trying to make something for a future that doesn’t exist yet doesn’t really make sense. But she definitely left the door open, saying she’s always happy to work with the team again because they all had such a blast and are really close friends!

Nicola Coughlan hasn’t committed to anything either, and her busy work life might make it difficult to plan. She shared that she’s really just looking forward to relaxing and spending time with everyone outside of work, saying she’d love to host a barbecue for the group.
The actress known for her role in Bridgerton has revealed that filming for the show’s fifth season is underway, but she will have a smaller part this time around. She mentioned on the Dish podcast on Wednesday that she won’t be featured heavily in the new season, but she enjoys the work and is happy to return whenever possible.
Nicola Walker will star in the upcoming Channel 4 drama, I Am Helen, the newest installment of the I Am anthology series. The story will examine the world of the “manosphere” from a woman’s perspective, and Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole will play her on-screen love interest. Meanwhile, the future of the series Big Mood is still uncertain, leaving fans wondering if it will return for a third season.
