Wild moment junior reporter accidentally inhales cannabis smoke during live cross in resurfaced footage

Katie Brown, a well-known television personality, shared a funny story about her early days as a reporter. While working for Nine, she unintentionally breathed in cannabis smoke while on live television.

The 34-year-old TV host posted an old video on Instagram Thursday of herself as a child, standing next to a group of marijuana plants.

Katie reported that police were destroying cannabis plants after a drug raid, and a fire was burning with smoke rising from the plants as they were being disposed of.

Unfortunately, things went wrong when the wind shifted and blew marijuana smoke directly towards Katie while she was broadcasting live.

Crew members behind the scene could be heard laughing as Katie bent over coughing.

Katie, a journalist who started at Nine News and later joined Seven, shared a relatable moment: ‘Imagine you’re a new reporter covering a marijuana raid, and suddenly the wind shifts.’

I don’t recall how things ended, but I vividly remember being really hungry all day. This was likely around 2012 or 2013 in Coffs Harbour.

In 2024, Katie showed everyone just how dedicated she is to her job as a TV journalist by sharing a look at her typical day.

The celebrity, known as Seven Star, shared her incredibly busy day on Instagram, which included two flights to different states and several interviews.

She starts her days incredibly early, waking up at 3:30 AM. After a late night of watching movies, she heads to the Seven studios to present Sunrise Sport at 5:30 AM.

Katie had breakfast at 6.30am before heading to Sydney Airport for a flight to Brisbane at 9am.

After arriving in Brisbane, the presenter conducted six interviews, then enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch at noon.

She was on a flight back to Sydney by 3pm, managing to get home by dinner and go to bed early.

She posted a photo of herself looking tired but trying to stay positive, captioning it ‘Terrific Tuesday’ with a thumbs-up.

Moments later, Katie shared a photo of herself running on a treadmill.

She also mentioned she’d managed to get a couple of naps on the plane, jokingly apologizing for anyone who might have seen her drool while she slept.

She explained that her days aren’t normally this hectic, but today—Tuesday—was unusually busy, exciting, and a little chaotic.

Katie, a former 7NEWS Queensland sports reporter, joined the Sunrise team in 2023.
