Story Highlights

  • Monthly Operations and Protocol Events will bring regular new content and limited-time experiences.
  • Ranked mode gets a major overhaul with Legendary tier, better rewards, and longer seasons.
  • New features like 120 FPS, Site & Spawn Selection, and improved matchmaking are coming next season.

Ubisoft recently released a development update for Rainbow Six Mobile, giving players a better understanding of the game’s future. The update details plans for new seasonal content, changes to Ranked mode, improvements to how matchmaking works, and other updates. It also responds to feedback from the Rainbow Six Mobile community. Here’s a summary of what’s new!

Rainbow Six Mobile Monthly Operations will drive new content updates

Great news! Rainbow Six Mobile will now be updated with new content every month. These updates, called ‘Operations,’ will bring fresh challenges and features to the game. Here’s a look at what you can expect with each one:

  • A new Operator.
  • Unique seasonal theme.
  • New Battle Pass.
  • New gameplay experiences.

In addition to regular updates, each new in-game event will feature a significant, themed experience. Some events will test out new gameplay ideas, while others will expand on the game’s story and world. The Rainbow is Magic event is a good example of what these events are like, and we’re already planning the next one for June. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A dedicated game mode.
  • Specific themed or reworked map.
  • Completing special missions.
  • Collecting event currency and packs from a free progression track.

Ranked mode is getting a major overhaul next season

They’re improving Ranked mode to be more competitive and give better rewards. Seasons will now last for two Operations, and each season will include a Ranked Event with a unique Operator skin. Plus, you’ll receive new rewards as you climb the seasonal ladder. Here’s what’s changing with rank resets:

  • Above Gold – Reset to Gold.
  • Gold and Below – Your rank will remain unchanged.

Besides this, Ranked will now be split into two tiers, and they’re as follows:

  • Regular Ranked (Unranked to Silver)
    • This is especially designed for newer players.
    • Here, you get a better learning curve with easier progression.
  • Legendary Ranked (Gold to Master)
    • Now this new Legendary ranked offers a more competitive environment.
    • Focuses more on skill-based matchmaking.
    • You can enjoy higher-quality matches as you climb to better ranks.

Matchmaking improvements aim to fix unfair matches

The developers are now addressing the problem of unfair matches. They explained that the matchmaking system considers rank, skill level (MMR), and connection quality (ping). It prioritizes finding players with a good connection first, and then broadens the search if needed.

Matches sometimes feel unfair, especially when playing with a full team, during less popular times, or if you’re a very new or highly ranked player. The good news is our team is working to address this, and here’s what we’re improving.

  • You’ll get better team balancing.
  • A more smarter use of MMR and Ranked over time.
  • New players can enjoy improved ranked playlists.
  • Improved ranked progression.
  • You can use a protection system against unfair matches.
  • Regular weekly adjustments based on reviewing weekly matchmaking data.

Rainbow Six Mobile introduces new Site & Spawn Selection, Ping Wheel, and more

1. Site & Spawn Selection

Okay, so I’m super hyped for the next season because they’re adding a new tactical system called Site & Spawn Selection. Basically, it lets me…

  • Choose the spawn locations before each round as an Attacker.
  • Or vote on which objective site to play as a Defender.
  • Plus, won objectives won’t appear in the next vote.

2. Ping Wheel

We’re excited to introduce the Ping Wheel, a new way to communicate with your team without needing to use voice chat. When you choose a ping, it’s also visually highlighted for extra clarity. This feature is still being developed, and here’s what the first version will include:

  • Warning pings to notify your allies of danger.
  • Quick feedback options.
  • Basic strategic callouts.

3. Academy

We’re building a new area to help you learn the ropes, practice your skills, and have a great start. You’ll find everything you need in our new Academy and Training hub.

  • Guided tutorials for core mechanics.
  • Operator-specific training.
  • Replayable scenarios.
  • Map learning tools.
  • Practice modes with AI.

All the gameplay and performance upgrades coming next season

I’m very grateful to the developers – they clearly put a lot of effort into the game and are consistently adding new features and content. Here are a few examples of what they’ve been working on:

This Dev Briefing really highlights the team’s dedication to both the game and its players. Seeing the new roadmap makes me optimistic about the future of Rainbow Six Mobile.
