Where Winds Meet Version 1.2 launches on January 9 bringing in the final chapter in the Kaifeng campaign

On January 9th, NetEase Games and Everstone Studio will release Version 1.2, titled “Live to Game,” for Where Winds Meet. This update completes the story in Kaifeng, adds a new area to explore, and includes other improvements.

This update includes special, temporary events – Martial Games and Legacy Quests – which are explained in more detail, along with new images, in the full announcement from Everstone Studio.

Where Winds Meet is now available on iOS, Android, PS5, and PC (Steam, Epic).

Everstone Studio announced that a major update for their popular open-world martial arts game, Where Winds Meet, will launch worldwide on January 9th, 2026. Version 1.2 completes the Kaifeng storyline and introduces the first season of competitive Guild Battles. Players can also explore a new region, discover a puzzle cave, and participate in the inaugural Jianghu Martial Games, a series of special in-game events. This update follows a recent New Year celebration called the Goose Overlord Takeover, which brought players together for some fun.

Goose Overlord Takeover Celebrated New Year With Global Community

To celebrate the new year, Where Winds Meet hosted a playful event where the game’s popular goose character took over! Players in cities like Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong were greeted with huge goose-themed advertisements. In Taipei, a special pop-up event featuring a giant goose attracted a lot of attention. As part of the takeover, the goose even briefly controlled the game’s launch screen and social media, broadcasting a livestream from its point of view. Over ten thousand players worldwide joined in the festivities, celebrating 2026 together.

Version 1.2 Update Brings New Areas and Final Volume of Kaifeng

The next update will add the Nine Mortal Ways Camp and Mistveil Prison, a challenging new puzzle cave. You’ll find the Nine Mortal Ways Camp hidden beneath Kaifeng’s Ghost Market – it’s a lively hub for members of different sects, offering interesting characters, hidden treasures, and plenty of activity. Just be careful – there are scams to watch out for!

I’m so excited for version 1.2 – it wraps up the Kaifeng storyline! And get this, the final boss, Supreme Freedom, isn’t just a tough fight, it’s supposed to be an epic challenge. It’s not just about winning, but making really difficult choices that test what you believe in, your sense of duty, and how much you think you can control your own destiny. It sounds intense!

Guild Battles: Preseason Tournament Begins

Update 1.2 introduces large-scale guild battles with the start of the Guild Battle Preseason! This preseason will have six challenging matches to test how well guilds work together strategically. To make it easier for players around the world to participate, guilds will be grouped into regions based on their location, and all regions will start their matches at the same time according to their local time.

The Where Winds Meet development team said this preseason is a key time for them to get feedback from players and improve the main features of Guild Battle. They’re inviting all guilds to get their members involved, practice their strategies, and get ready for even more guild-focused content coming in future updates.

The First Jianghu Martial Games Brings Light-hearted Fun

The next update adds a fun, limited-time event called the Jianghu Martial Games, starting January 9th. It’s a lively festival designed to provide some lighthearted enjoyment alongside the game’s exciting story and challenging battles.
