In the vast world of Where Winds Meet, how your character looks is just as important as how well they fight. The game features beautiful scenery and detailed martial arts, but creating a unique look helps you truly feel part of the Song Dynasty – or simply look your best!
Want to create a unique look? Whether you’re going for bright, colourful outfits like a merchant, subtle colours for a stealthy assassin, or just a fresh new hairstyle, customization is key. Luckily, the game has a great dyeing system that lets you personalize everything from your clothes to your hair.
How To Get Dyes

If you want to customize the colors of your hair or clothing in Where Winds Meet, here’s what you need to know:
- There are four separate dye items in the game, two for hair and two for clothes.
- Dyeing will consume these dyes, so you’ll need to be very certain that you’ll be happy with the dye job before committing!
- Many hairstyles and clothing options (notably the ones you can get for free in-game) cannot be dyed.
The three dyes are as follows:
| Dye Item | Purpose | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Softweave Dye Powder | Dyeing clothes | 20 Echo Beads per item in the shop, but also from draws and other locations viewable from the item’s tooltips |
| Rosycloud Dye Powder | Dyeing clothes | 100 Echo Beads per item in the shop, but also from draws and other locations viewable from the item’s tooltips |
| Inkshade Hairdye | Dyeing hair | 50 Echo Beads per item in the shop, but also from draws and other locations viewable from the item’s tooltips |
| Timeless Hairdye | Dyeing hair | 1 Harmonic Core for 5 items in the Draw Shop |
As a crafting enthusiast, I’ve learned that not all dyes are created equal! The more affordable, everyday dyes are great for getting those classic, reliable colors on clothes and hair. But if you’re after really bold, eye-catching shades – the kind that really pop – you’ll definitely need to invest in the pricier dyes. It’s all about getting the vibrancy you want!
How To Use Dyes
Go to the Appearance section of your Character menu. There, you can choose the hair or outfit you want to change the color of. If the item can be dyed, you’ll see a button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to open the color selection menu. If you don’t see this button, that item can’t be dyed.
The dyeing menu lets you change the colors of different parts of an outfit. These parts are organized into categories like fabrics and accessories, and each one is clearly labeled – for instance, you’ll see options like ‘Hemline,’ ‘Outer Coat,’ and ‘Boots’.
The dyeing menu starts with the ‘Advanced Dye’ option, which uses pricier dyes. However, you can switch to the ‘Basic Dye’ section to see only colors that use cheaper dyes. This limits your choices, but saves you money and makes the process simpler.
When you’re satisfied with your design, click the “Dye” button – it’s located in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Then, choose a slot to save your design and click “Apply” to use your dyes.
