In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, the Dragonbone Relic is a crucial ingredient for various advanced crafting recipes such as Heavy Bowguns, Switch Axes, Rathalos armor, and others. However, obtaining this relic can be quite challenging due to its rarity, even among rare bones. Therefore, you should be prepared to invest considerable time searching through bonepiles in each region for a chance to find one.
Our guide on Monster Hunter Wilds Dragonbone Relic reveals the spots where you can obtain this hard-to-find item, as well as suggesting areas that may provide an easier hunt.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Dragonbone Relic location

The Dragonbone Artifact rarely shows up in any bone heap you gather, provided it’s within a high-level setting. Every locale transforms into a high-level environment once you finish chapter three; however, if you decide to redo a low-level mission, they will remain low-level for as long as that mission is ongoing. Essentially, if you assume you can expedite the process by gathering Dragonbone Artifacts during a low-level quest for resource farming, it’s not possible.
In every region, there is at least one bonepile, but they are scarce in Wyveria’s Ruins. However, the area with the highest concentration of bonepiles and those that are most accessible is the Windward Plains. The initial region boasts several piles grouped near fast travel points, such as the Bone Desert region. While Dragonbone Relics aren’t guaranteed, farming in these areas is quicker and more convenient than traversing Oilwell Basin to discover another bonepile.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Dragonbone Relic farming tips

As a gamer, I’d recommend using your map’s filters to locate those bonepiles more easily. Open up the map and switch from fast travel spots to icons. Scroll down the options, and you’ll find the bonepile marker. Activate it, and my character can automatically navigate to each pile, marked as a waypoint. I can toggle between them to figure out which one is closest.
While exploring during your travels, be aware of uncharted mounds that might not appear on your maps. Occasionally, when monsters perish, they may transform into fresh piles of bones after a certain period of time has elapsed.
Lastly, ensure that you have either an item imbued with the Geologist’s talent or a Geology-enhanced charm. This Geologist talent boosts the number of items you collect from bonepiles, similar to how it increases yield from mineral nodes.
