Where to find a Gillopod in Monster Hunter Wilds

To wrap up Dareel’s assignment in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to successfully capture a Gillopod. This elusive native creature is the goal of Dareel’s Special Research Report quest. In this mission, you’ll journey to the Ruins of Wyveria to track down one more extraordinary specimen. After finishing up with Dareel, it won’t be surprising if Samin asks for your assistance as well.

If you’ve previously ventured into the Ruins of Wyveria, you might have come across the small, pink Pillopod creatures clinging to the rocks. Their larger relative, the Gillopod, can be tricky to locate but here’s where you can find the last one for Dareel’s endemic life quests.

If you’ve already scouted the Ruins of Wyveria, you might have seen the tiny pink Pillopods on the rocks. Their larger kin, the Gillopod, can be tough to track down, but here’s where you’ll find the final one for Dareel’s endemic life missions.

Monster Hunter Wilds Gillopod location

You’ll encounter a Gillopod along the trail linking area 7 and area 10, situated on the lowest level of the Ruins of Wyveria. These stationary beings often feast on the Wyrmway, a massive, branching structure found in the underbelly of Wyveria. To reach them, follow the path created by white branches that arches above the central Wyrmway, connecting the areas mentioned previously.

While moving along, make sure to glance at where the trail begins and the surrounding rocks for a large, flat, grey rectangular creature with blue markings on top – this is known as a Gillopod. You might have come across smaller pink Pillopods that resemble them, often found clinging to the Wyrmway branches or rocks in this subterranean region. However, the much larger Gillopod usually attaches itself to nearby branches along the path or on rocks. If you don’t find one, try exploring the branch paths further down in the area.

It’s good news that it can’t escape because it doesn’t have legs. Prepare your capture net by pressing the left bumper on your controller and selecting it from the wheel with your right stick. Keep holding LT to aim, then adjust until the box turns orange before pressing RT to catch it. This is the final creature Dareel needs, so you can return to the Windward Plains base camp and finish the quest.

In addition to Dareel expressing his deep gratitude for your efforts in gathering various exotic creatures for him, you will be rewarded with ten gloamgrass buds, five units of honey, and an impressive 300 Guild Points.
