Ye has finally released his new album.
Kind of.
Pitchfork reports that the artist formerly known as Kanye West released his long-awaited song “Bully” during a YouTube livestream late Thursday. The song was also played at listening events in cities like Los Angeles.
As of Friday morning, the song “Bully” hadn’t been released on popular streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and the livestream video was also unavailable on YouTube.
Following Kanye West’s recent full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal for past antisemitic statements, he explained his behavior by citing medical problems linked to injuries from a car accident in 2002.
Recent social media posts suggest Kanye West’s upcoming album, “Bully,” will feature collaborations with artists like Travis Scott and CeeLo Green. The album also appears to include samples from classic songs by The Supremes and Stevie Wonder.
Music
The pop singer, 34, says this is the first album he feels truly represents his musical style and vision.
For over a year, Ye has been sharing different versions of his album “Bully,” his first solo release since 2022’s “Donda 2.” Previous versions were rumored to include AI-generated music, but Ye recently stated on Instagram that the newest version is completely free of AI.
Ye is set to perform two concerts at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood next week, on April 1st and April 3rd. This will be his first time back at the venue since he and Ty Dolla Sign performed at the Rolling Loud festival in 2024.
Okay, so everyone thought we were going to see a full-on concert, but it turned out to be something totally different. Instead of performing, Ye and Ty just walked around on a stage they set up in the stadium parking lot while their new album, “Vultures 1,” played over the speakers. It was more like a listening party than a show, honestly.
A jury recently ruled against Ye in a lawsuit filed by a former contractor. The contractor claimed Ye violated labor laws while working on a Malibu home previously owned by the rapper. Ye was ordered to pay $140,000 as a result.
