To get ready for the new Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, fans will need to watch more than 30 previous Marvel films and TV shows. The movie is scheduled to come out in December.
Which MCU shows and movies are the most important to watch before Avengers: Doomsday?
Alex Perez, a reliable source at Cosmic Circus, shared a list of 31 titles on X (formerly Twitter). Perez highlighted 12 of these as essential viewing for fans before the release of Doomsday.
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
- Doctor Strange (2016)
- Avengers: Endgame (2019)
- WandaVision (2021)
- Loki Seasons 1 (2021) & 2 (2023)
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
- The Marvels (2023)
- Agatha All Along (2024)
- Thunderbolts* (2025)
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)
Besides these titles, the list of content potentially being removed also included popular Marvel movies and shows like The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, What If…? (Seasons 2 & 3), Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Thor: Love and Thunder, She-Hulk, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, Ironheart, and the forthcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and VisionQuest.
I think it’s a great idea that Perez suggested revisiting some older movies! He mentioned rewatching the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, X2, and even X-Men: The Last Stand. He explained that while the first 12 movies are the most crucial, the other 19 all feature characters who will be in Avengers: Doomsday, so it’s a good way for us to remember where we left off with everyone and see them in action before the big event.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers, is set 14 months after the events of Thunderbolts*. The film will feature the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men joining forces to battle Doctor Doom.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to play Doctor Doom (Victor Von Doom) in the upcoming movie Doomsday, and will return for its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars. There are also rumors, though not officially confirmed, that he will reprise his famous role as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, in the film.
The next Avengers movie, currently titled Doomsday, is planned for release on December 18, 2026, as the culmination of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
