As a dedicated fan of the British Royal Family, I have always admired Prince William for his commitment to his duties and his personal growth throughout his life. The story of how he met his beloved wife, Catherine, at university is one that warms my heart, and it’s fascinating to learn about their shared academic journey.
Regardless of one’s identity, education plays a crucial role, and it holds even more significance for individuals like members of the British royal family, who often serve as the nation’s ambassadors due to their numerous duties related to the monarchy. In the case of Prince William, set to become the future King of the UK, education was particularly significant for him.
As a devoted admirer of the royal family, I can’t help but share a fascinating piece of their story. You see, it was at college where the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge crossed paths for the very first time. And just like many of us, you might find this intriguing: Princess Catherine, our beloved Kate Middleton, happened to major in art history during her university days. That’s right! Their meeting story is closely tied to that academic pursuit. Intriguingly enough, Prince William, our dear William, initially chose art history as his major when he embarked on his own academic journey.
Contrarily, art history didn’t seem to be of interest to the prince. On the contrary, it appears he confessed to dozing off during his art history lessons, leading him to seek a more suitable field of study. Thus, one might wonder, what subject did Prince William ultimately major in?
Prince William ditched the art history degree for a completely different major
It seems that Prince William chose to study geography instead of art history after discovering his true passion lay elsewhere. As reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, this future king obtained a degree in geography in 2005. Given the courses at St. Andrews University where he and Princess Catherine were enrolled, this choice appears fitting.
At the University of St Andrews, the geography program offers students an understanding of both the natural landscape and how human societies shape the world around us.
Bridge the gap between human society and the physical environment, and find solutions to some of humanity’s most pressing problems, such as environmental change, population dynamics, biodiversity loss and global inequalities.
Looking back, switching things up was definitely the smart move for me as Prince William. It aligns perfectly with my responsibilities as a royal, and let’s face it, I wasn’t exactly the most attentive student during my initial classes – snoozing away. So, it seems like choosing a program that sparked my interest post-school was indeed the right call for me.
