Wendi McLendon-Covey on why she missed the ‘Bridesmaids’ reunion: ‘No drama. Everything is fine’

Wendi McLendon-Covey has let fans know she’s doing okay after they noticed she wasn’t at the “Bridesmaids” reunion during the 2026 Oscars.

McLendon-Covey shared on Instagram that she recently had a neck lift to address a concern about her appearance, explaining she felt she looked ‘like a melting candle.’ Because of the procedure, she wasn’t able to attend the Academy Awards, but she assured everyone she’s doing well and there was no cause for concern.

The photo, posted with a winking emoji and a kiss, showed the actress from “St. Denis Medical” with a bandage on her face and neck.

Awards

Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley were the big acting winners at the Oscars, with “One Battle After Another” taking home the top prize over “Sinners.” Get all the details on who won, what everyone wore, and everything that happened at and after the ceremony.

Wendi McLendon-Covey mentioned she’d gotten questions about why she wasn’t at the recent ‘Bridesmaids’ reunion. Her former co-stars – Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, and Ellie Kemper – surprised everyone by presenting an award at the Oscars.

The 2011 comedy, directed by Paul Feig, centers on a hilarious group of bridesmaids and their chaotic experiences leading up to a wedding. Kristen Wiig stars as Annie, the maid of honor, and also helped write the film. Wendi McLendon-Covey plays Rita, a cousin of the bride (Maya Rudolph).

Kristen Wiig expressed her surprise at the 15-year anniversary during Sunday’s cast reunion. She joked that, after some quick calculations backstage, they realized filming the movie would have taken place in 1883.

The actors then performed a sketch where they read notes that were supposedly written by other famous actors in the audience, who participated in the bit.

Television

Wendi McLendon-Covey, known for her role as the demanding Beverly on ‘The Goldbergs,’ was eager to try something different. She found that opportunity in a new NBC comedy series where she plays a quirky boss, filmed in a mockumentary style.

Rudolph began reading the first note, saying, ‘Ladies, you all look absolutely beautiful tonight, and you’re holding up so well!’

The note was supposedly signed by “Sentimental Value” actor and nominee Stellan Skarsgård.

McCarthy later followed up with another letter commenting on the “Bridesmaid” cast’s looks.

McCarthy continued reading, “I also think you all look beautiful. Everything you’ve done to enhance your appearances is really well done.” The message was signed ‘Elle Fanning,’ but then Skarsgård jokingly revealed it was actually him who wrote it.

Kristen Wiig and Rob Kemper finished the segment by reading notes about how long their sketch should be and the overall show length.
