In a recent Instagram post, Mike announced that he had traveled to Los Angeles to spend time with his friend who was nearing the end of his life.
He said, ‘After just a few months of being together, @wolfiesmom recognized my distress and offered for me to stay with her.’
In simpler terms, Goodnough reminisced, “That week was incredibly painful yet healing… it brought me solace from past sorrows. Valerie’s assistance was crucial in this process.”
During that difficult week, every evening after helping my friend and his mourning relatives, she always ensured I had something to eat.
On the very first evening, she prepared a sandwich for me. In just a few days, I will be celebrating my 54th birthday. That sandwich is so vividly etched in my memory – not only its taste, but also the feelings of warmth and care that accompanied it.
He observed that his girlfriend ‘didn’t owe me that; she offered it.’
In another part of the text, Mike shared that Valerie changed her family arrangements to spend time with him, which turned out to be particularly beneficial for him at a critical moment.
During his visit, Goodnough mentioned that he would rise early each morning, even before sunrise, in preparation for confronting some of the most difficult experiences from his past.
He added: ‘Invariably, Valerie would find me out in the yard in the near dark, give me a hug, and then head inside to make us coffee… and then we’d sit and talk. Me mostly. Processing. Trying to wrestle down and manage and cope.’
In a wise message to his 50,000 followers, he pointed out, ‘Some people demonstrate their concern for you and others just talk about it.’
‘Take careful note of each. Hold close the former and give space to the latter. The former – the people who are there for you – are life’s richest blessing. Treasure them, for they are treasures.’
The couple went ‘Instagram official’ in April.
Two days following the revelation of his identity in a Substack post by Goodnough, they publicly acknowledged their romantic relationship.
In a blog post named “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…”, Goodnough elaborated on the story behind his relationship with Valerie.
In a piece he wrote, Goodnothing expressed that he is currently dating Valerie Bertinelli, and he finds this fact to be incredibly hard to believe – one of the strangest things he has ever typed out.
‘But it’s true… and nothing about our actual relationship seems surreal. It just seems… good… lucky… a gift,’ he added.
He went on to say: “Life can be chaotic, my dear ones. That’s just how it is. For a long time, it may pour down harsh times upon you, pushing you to your limits… but then, unexpectedly, it will clear up and reveal the deep blue skies, filled with love. You might find yourself using a simple term like ‘Honey,’ not because it’s casual, but because you’re so deeply grateful for the incredible feeling of affection you have for her, the precious gift of loving her.”
