Until Dawn remaster coming this October, see the rebuilt graphics and enhancements in new video
As a seasoned gamer with memories etched deeply into my gaming DNA, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia hearing about the impending release of Until Dawn’s remaster. It was one of those games that left an indelible mark on me, its chilling atmosphere and nail-biting tension still echoing in the recesses of my mind.
We’re almost ready to return to the foreboding and ominous Blackwood Mountain with the upcoming launch of the Until Dawn remaster this October. Sony has recently unveiled a new trailer showcasing how the original 2015 game differs from the remaster, which was entirely rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 from scratch.
Approximately a decade has passed since Supermassive Games initially released the chilling game Until Dawn, significantly impacting the cinematic, story-driven horror genre. The remastered version will boast numerous enhancements such as refined character models, enhanced visual effects, an abundance of interactive props, and much more.
Additional features include:
- More accessibility and usability settings
- New collectibles! All of the original totems have been relocated to encourage player exploration and there is also a new totem and other small new interactions and extra content included in the remaster.
- Texture improvements
- A reworked prologue that improves pacing and adds some screentime for Hannah and Josh Washington along with reframing scenes around the prank that kicks off the plot
Take a look at the authentic PlayStation blog article for an in-depth overview of the features coming up in the forthcoming remake. Below, you’ll find the comparison video trailer, which offers side-by-side visuals to help you appreciate how the 2015 game differs from the upcoming remaster.
Beyond just the new game, plans are underway for a movie adaptation of “Until Dawn.” The filming process has begun, with David F. Sandberg at the helm as director. Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare are set to star in this production.
The only downside to the movie is that it will be about a new story, so don’t expect to see a retread of the video game. But with the remastered game coming out, it might be nice to get a totally fresh take that introduces us to new characters.
