Unlock the Secrets: Mastering Slinger Ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds!

Regardless of the primary weapon you select for gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll consistently have your Slinger accessible on your non-dominant hand. The Slinger serves a dual purpose; it can be utilized to collect resources from afar, and during combat, it allows you to attack enemies by launching various objects at them.

The type of ammunition you load onto your slinger significantly impacts its performance. There are various kinds of slinger ammo to select from, each functioning in unique ways. Here’s a guide on acquiring diverse types of slinger ammo and understanding how they operate.

How To Find Slinger Ammo In Monster Hunter Wilds

You have two primary options when it comes to Slinger ammo: the first one is the everlasting kind that you create yourself, and the second one is temporary ammo discovered during your adventures in the vast open world. The map will indicate the location of findable Slinger ammo with a symbol resembling a bow above three arrows, marked by a specific icon color, which indicates its elemental property. As soon as you gather any type of these Slinger ammos, it will automatically replace whatever Slinger ammo you had equipped before.

As an enthusiast, I always ensure that my environmental ammo is properly loaded at all times. When I pick up another piece of plant ammo, the one currently equipped automatically drops from my inventory.

If you’re using a custom-made Slinger Ammo and find some environmental Slinger ammo, your custom Slinger Ammo will be stored in your reserve when you pick up the environmental one. However, switching back to the custom Slinger Ammo will cause you to drop the environmental one. You can also obtain various types of Slinger ammo from smaller monsters at the start of the game.

How To Craft Slinger Ammo In Monster Hunter Wilds

Additionally to the environmental Slinger ammunition, you’ll be able to create your own Slinger ammunition for personal use whenever it’s convenient. There aren’t many types of craftable ammunition, but they are particularly useful for stunning monsters or making them easier to defeat.

  • All pod recipes can be found in the Traps/Offense section of the Crafting List.
Slinger Ammo Name Crafting Recipe Effects
Flash Pod 1 Flashbug Phosphor Causes a flash on impact and will blind monsters facing the light.
Dung Pod 1 Rolled-Up Dung or 1 Dung Causes smaller monsters to flee from the pod.
Large Dung Pod 1 Dung Pod + 1 Nitroshroom Causes any nearby monster to flee from the pod.
Luring Pod 1 Exciteshroom + 1 Bitterbug Broth Lures nearby small and large monsters to the spot where the pod lands.

With these pods, you can easily add them to your toolbar just like any other item. Once placed on your toolbar, they’ll replace any existing environmental ammo and store this ammo for you. If you decide to remove this ammo from your inventory in any manner, the remaining ammo will still be safely stored within your toolbar, similar to how other consumable items function.
