Universal unveils new look at Jurassic World Rebirth

As a long-time movie enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of blockbuster cinema over the past few decades, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming release of “Jurassic World: Rebirth” in 2025. With such an impressive cast joining forces to breathe new life into this iconic franchise, it’s safe to say that we are in for a visual and emotional rollercoaster ride!

The Jurassic Park film series, starting with Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster hit, “Jurassic Park” in 1993, has been one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood history. After initially dominating the box office, it took a break for over a decade before making a grand comeback in 2015 with “Jurassic World,” surpassing its original success financially and spawning two more action-packed sequels.

The final chapter of Jurassic World ended in 2022 with the title Dominion, but its success guaranteed the franchise’s continuation past that point. A follow-up movie titled Jurassic World: Rebirth was announced for the summer of 2025, and since then, it has amassed a highly distinguished cast. This impressive cast includes Scarlett Johansson, known for her role in Marvel productions; Jonathan Bailey, who gained fame from Bridgerton; Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali; and David Iacono, star of Dead Boy Detectives.

Universal recently revealed more images from the upcoming film, having previously announced the title “Rebirth” a few months back. A fresh glimpse of the movie has now been shared by Empire Magazine, providing a clearer view of Scarlett Johansson’s character.

New Jurassic World Rebirth still showcases Scarlett Johansson’s character

A fresh snapshot from the upcoming movie “Jurassic World Rebirth” offers a glimpse of Scarlett Johansson’s character. This sneak peek, unveiled in Empire Magazine’s 2025 advance issue, depicts her gripping a weapon amidst what seems to be towering vegetation (and as we know, tall vegetation often hints at trouble in this series).

There were also new details about the character revealed in the spread, including her name. Zora Bennett is an operative who leads an expedition hunting for dinosaur DNA. A former member of the military, she is searching for a new purpose in life and very much thinks that this could be it, but actually venturing out into the same world as dinosaurs soon raises questions that she feels she must ask – perhaps most importantly of all: Is she doing the right thing? And given that she seems like a good person, she quickly realises that what she’s doing is morally and ethically wrong.

Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to playing strong characters. A veteran of the screen, she has enjoyed a long and successful career in sci-fi and action flicks such as Under The Skin and Lucy. Her most famous role, however, is undoubtedly that of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which she played from 2010 until 2021. It all started with a supporting role in Iron Man 2 and led to major roles in The Avengers and its three sequels, two Captain America movies, and finally her own film, Black Widow, which was released in 2021 as a send-off to the character. We can’t wait to see her tackle Zora in Jurassic World: Rebirth, adding her name to another legendary franchise.

Director Gareth Edwards has a knack for creating colossal monsters that dominate the silver screen, as evidenced by his work on 2014’s Godzilla, which launched the MonsterVerse. It’s clear that the classic dinosaur series is under capable hands with him at the helm. Furthermore, he excels in building anticipation among fans for the upcoming seventh installment by hinting at what it might entail. He shared with Empire Magazine that the movie returns to the elements of the original film that he cherished most.

The movie titled “Jurassic World Rebirth” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, marking a bustling period for both pop-culture enthusiasts and Hollywood alike. During this same month, DC’s “Superman” and Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Footsteps” will also make their debut.
