Umamusume Pretty Derby brings a New Career called “Trackblazer: Start of the Climax”

Okay, so the global servers for Umamusume are getting a brand new Career mode in the March update! It’s the third permanent story we’re getting in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, following the Unity Cup scenario. I’m going to break down everything you need to know about what’s coming in this update.

What’s coming in the new Career on Umamusume Pretty Derby

Trackblazer, also called ‘Make a New Track’ in the Japanese version, is different from the URA Finale and Unity Cup. Instead of specific race goals, this scenario focuses on earning enough ‘Grade Points’ before the deadlines. You need to accumulate a certain number of these points to finish the scenario.

This new mode moves away from set objectives and focuses on a longer, replayable experience with around 35-40 races. You’ll be able to visit item shops and improve your horses by competing against rivals to unlock new skills. Excitingly, professional jockey and commentator Junko Hosoe, who’s also appeared in the anime, will be providing expert commentary during races and behind the scenes! Plus, a brand new concert will be unlocked if you achieve a perfect career run.

What to expect in the new scenario

Trackblazer is different from previous modes because you can enter any race you choose, without having to follow a set schedule. You also don’t need to achieve a specific rank in a race to progress your career. The final part of the career mode has been completely redesigned.

Twinkle Star Climax is the final tournament at the end of the game, taking the place of the URA Finale. To win, you need to earn the most points across three races. Each race can be one of five types: short, mile, classic, long, or dirt. Like the URA Finale, the distance and track conditions of each race will be determined by the races your horse participated in during its three years of training.

Winning a Twinkle Star Climax race earns you up to 10 Victory Points, and you can get a maximum of 30 Victory Points by winning all three races. These points are shown as rainbow stars labeled “Pt.” Because you race frequently in this career mode, it’s easy to build up a large fanbase for your Umamusume, and certain Support Cards can further increase your fan bonus.

Shops and the events swapped out

In Trackblazer, you earn Shop Coins by completing races. You can spend these coins in the Trackblazer Shop to improve your performance during a career run. Winning a race awards 100 Shop Coins, but you’ll get fewer coins for lower finishing positions.

So, when I hit the shop in the game, I can buy all sorts of stuff. It’s not just about getting stronger – I can boost my stats, sure, but also get things that give me special effects, extra energy, or even strengthen the bonds with my support characters. There’s a ton of variety, honestly!

Sometimes, races will have a Rival, marked with a VS logo. If you win against a Rival by finishing first, you’ll get a random clue about skills related to either the race’s length or how you ran it. If you beat the Rival but don’t win the race, it’s considered a tie, and you won’t receive a skill clue.

Unlike the first two parts of the game, secret events don’t activate during the Trackblazer scenario. This means certain things, like Silence Suzuka getting the Runaway style, won’t happen because they depend on completing those secret events. If you’re aiming to unlock these extras, remember this limitation when playing through Trackblazer with your Umas.
