Despite rumors, MacKenzie Scott, the 56-year-old ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, isn’t going to star as the next James Bond. Instead, reports suggest she’s been given the power to choose the actor who will take over the role from Daniel Craig.

That claim was made by showbiz journalist Rob Shuter, who wrote on his substack on Tuesday that Mrs Bezos is now the ‘quiet boss hovering over the Bond universe’ following her husband’s acquisition of MGM Studios in 2022.

According to a message from Shuter at the new Amazon MGM Studios, whether or not a project moves forward now depends on Lauren’s approval. If she isn’t enthusiastic about it, it will be cancelled.

The Daily Mail has learned the complete story, and reliable sources confirm that reports of Alexis Sanchez being considered for the James Bond role were completely unfounded.

According to a source, she won’t be choosing the next James Bond, nor will she be appearing as a Bond girl – unless perhaps as a costume for Halloween.

According to Shuter, who previously suggested Jeff Bezos wants his wife to be considered for the role of the next Bond girl, Lauren Sanchez has a clear idea of what she wants for the character. Shuter claims that actor Jacob Elordi doesn’t fit Sanchez’s vision.

According to Shuter, Sanchez wants a James Bond who is sophisticated, charismatic, and has broad appeal – someone who doesn’t appear burdened by personal problems.

Elordi, 28, has recently been thought of as something of a frontrunner for the role.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Sanchez for comment.

Although Sanchez, a former Emmy-winning news anchor, isn’t currently working on any projects with Amazon MGM Studios, she publicly and enthusiastically supported Jeff Bezos while he promoted his new series, The Rings of Power, during its international press tour.

It seems Sanchez is interested in making movies. She recently cancelled a $2 million film project she was personally funding. The movie, called ‘The Golden Door,’ was planned to be a suspenseful psychological thriller.

The intense speculation about who will play the next James Bond started after Jeff Bezos gained full creative control of MGM’s projects last year.

Now that Daniel Craig has finished playing James Bond after appearing in five films, the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are stepping down. They took over the franchise from Barbara’s father, Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, who originally launched the 007 movies in 1962.
