TOWIE’s Chloe Lewis petitions the government to change the laws around ice skating protection for children after her son’s finger was ‘sliced off’ in horrific accident

Chloe Lewis, known from the reality show TOWIE, is asking the government to update safety laws for children ice skating. This comes after her son suffered a serious injury, losing a finger in an accident.

Last week, the 35-year-old reality star shared that her six-year-old son, Beau, severely injured his finger – it was partially severed – during an ice skating accident.

Chloe, who shares her son Beau with her ex-partner Danny Flasher, said Beau was injured around New Year’s and needed surgery. Unfortunately, doctors weren’t able to reattach his finger.

Chloe has transformed a difficult situation into something good by starting a petition. She’s asking the government to create stricter rules for children’s ice-skating, specifically requiring them to wear protective gloves.

A petition with over 21,300 signatures is asking for a new law requiring children to wear gloves while ice skating. The petition argues that gloves should be mandatory to protect children’s hands from the sharp blades.

On Wednesday, Chloe shared the petition on her Instagram, along with a cute video of her and Beau having a chocolate fondue date.

Chloe thanked supporters and shared how ‘proud’ she is of her son since his ordeal.

She wrote: ‘Turning something negative into a positive.

We’re so grateful for all the support you’ve shown for the petition and for the kind messages we’ve received. We really appreciate it, and we hope this effort will one day help protect others.

I’m so proud of you. We need to do this for the next generation. If you haven’t already, please add your signature.

Chloe recently shared that the upsetting experience left her feeling deeply hurt, and she’s now asking the government to require children to wear gloves when ice skating to prevent similar incidents.

She wrote in a long message that she hesitated to share this personal news, as any parent would be protective of their child. However, she decided to share it in hopes of helping others and bringing attention to the issue.

I received a devastating phone call at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve – every parent’s worst nightmare. I was told my son, Beau, had suffered a terrible accident while ice skating. He fell, and someone accidentally ran over his finger with their skates, resulting in its amputation.

To be honest, I don’t really remember how I managed to get in the car and drive the forty-five minutes to see him – it all happened so quickly and I was in a daze.

When I got there, he was bundled in a shiny silver blanket. Seeing his sweet face instantly broke my heart, and I tried hard not to cry and worry him. He kept reassuring me, saying, ‘It’s okay, Mum, don’t cry, I’m alright. My finger will be fine.’

We rushed to The Royal London Hospital by ambulance, where doctors examined him and took X-rays. He finally had surgery around 8 p.m. Seeing your child go under anesthesia is the most awful thing I’ve ever gone through – it was incredibly upsetting, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel that way.

I waited for him after his 3.5-hour surgery, and the plastic surgeon reassured me everything had gone well. We went back to the ward, and I sat with him while he was still asleep. I filmed this video on New Year’s Eve, and it’s really made me think about how fragile and valuable life is – how quickly things can change.

It’s been eight weeks since the accident, and unfortunately, the reattached part of his finger didn’t survive. If it doesn’t fall off on its own, he’ll need another small surgery to remove it. I’m still completely devastated and can’t believe this has happened.

It breaks my heart knowing I can’t undo what happened, but I’m determined to make sure no other family goes through this. That’s why I’ve started a petition asking the government to require kids to wear protective gloves when ice skating. I really need your support to get this changed – please sign and share it so we can protect other children.

Chloe and Danny were together for seven years, from 2016 to 2023, and share a three-year-old son named Beau.

Chloe shared in an Instagram Q&A that she and her partner had split up after a difficult and complicated few years.

When fans asked if she was raising her child alone, she confirmed that she is. She added that the last few years have been challenging.

I generally keep my personal life to myself, and it’s difficult enough to manage without also worrying about what others think. Despite that, I always make an effort to share my work and abilities.
